I am a postman from the West Byfleet PDO, I am 61 years old and have been a postie for more than 31 years.
At the present time I feel very despondent so I was wondering if I could apply for EVR, I have heard that this is an option for all employees over the age of 50 as RM are looking to reduce their staffing levels.
Is this correct and how would I go about applying for this, I'm not too sure if my Line Manager will help me with this so any help would be much appreciated.
I should like to know what my position is, is it up to the Line Manager or is it a blanket option for all posties.

Unfortunately EVR is not up to your line manager or a blanket option for all postie. If it were there would probably be thousands applying for it.
EVR/VR is only offered where there is a staff surplus in an office and there is no prospect of resolving it by other means - natural wastage or transfers. Sometimes it might be available if there is 'bumping' - that is where someone from another office where there is EVR/VR wants to transfer to your office and a vacancy needs to be created. The transferring office would then pay the costs of the EVR/VR.
It would be offered to all staff in the office as if there are a limited number of EVR/VRs on offer it would usually go the senior applicants.
So if you have not been offered EVR/VR, it is not available in your office, at present anyway.
