Good point, but what would happen in this situation then if days were missed?
You could and its only could, get done for Wilful delay, can't imagine it but its a possibility. They are part of your daily workload, they are a pain in the arse but they help to protect jobs.
So why isn't this happening to people who have clearly missed days, and have stacks of d2d's left to hand in at the end of the week?
Because it's being mis-managed, all you are tasked to do is 1/6th per day, whats the problem with that, cold calling or not? :wave :wave D2D is classed the same as 1st class these days if you do not comply to this you are wide open to Wilfull delay
Yes but theres no stamp and no address on d2d's, so unless someone from RM is gonna go round and knock on everyones door and ask if the got some leaflets through their door? (and even if they did how many different leaflets from different companies do you get in a week, and how many do you rememeber, and how many do you chuck straight in the bin?) its impossible to do anything about it, and I see people getting away with this every week in my office!

Thats exactly what they do, especially in areas where quality is an issue. They'll knock on a series of doors and gauge if they have been delivered by the answers they get - also managers are meant to do it occasionally as well though I doubt most do.

So what your saying is they can class it as what ever mail ever they want, but in reality theres no much because how can they prove it? I think all they can do is up the penalty, this is how somepeople still manage to get away with it. I've not been at RM that long but i've never heard of anyone lossing their job(at my office anyway) over d2ds? But there was a lad in my office who got supended for a week or something? Whats the usual procedure then if they suspect someones not doing there d2d's?

If its a one off or perhaps a single house missed in a particular week then no they are probably not going to find out. But if its common practice then at some point they will come under suspicion and will eventually be caught.

Perhaps not your office but here are 2 threads about D2Ds and possible consequences

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 2D#p590390" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; One postie was sacked for 8 D2D items not being delivered.

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... or#p595818" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; At Rothesay Sheriff Court on Monday, a letter from Martin Kane’s solicitors was produced entering a plea of guilty to the theft of 1,656 Door to Doors at the Royal Mail’s Rothesay delivery office

Suspension for a fact finding, dismissal if there is a reasonable belief that they did what they are accused of. Prosecution in the worst cases such as one mentioned above.

How can they find out if someone isn't doing their D2Ds, and or dumping them.

Tag them with RFIDs.
Mark them with ultraviolet ink.
Act on complaints from the Public.
Act on complaints from the Senders - The senders have people out there who report back to them when the receive literature - this is fact because when I worked for a Mail Order company one of my jobs was to collate their reports and to keep in contact with these secret shoppers, and its standard practice.

What you should do is wait till it is your scheduled day off, and on returning to the office after your delivery, the day before, chuck every single D2D into your frame for your day-off cover. They will LOVE you for it.

I know at least half a dozen that have lost their jobs over failing to do D2D's.
It's live mail, and dumping them (or whatever) is wilful delay. Sackable offence.
I just don't understand people who continue to dump them. As long as you work to your time, and operate under the overrunning deliveries procedure, then you're in the clear.
But, failing to complete part of your workload in that manner is only likely to result in your dismissal.
They're after sacking us, don't help them.

Great idea, but what happens if you do not have the time. Remember 1/6th per day, so will not be paid o/t.

I think these are two extreme cases, I doubt any manager in my office would take the extra time out of their day to find out any of this information unless they really wanted rid of someone.

Fair enough, not sure I would gamble my job on it though.

This is a really interesting case though, did he keep them all in his house or something, im confused? And shouldn't the Dom be question also for letting it go on so long?
I mean how do they know the exact number and the dates it went on for?

Maybe it was suspected that something was going on.
If so, the IB will watch for a period of time, hence the dates given.
As for the number, it is likely that they were retrieved from wherever they were dumped/stored, whether that be the house/car/pouch box or whatever.

I know for a fact that RM use secret shopper type people who photocopy what door2doors they have has that week and upload them using A Royal Mail program, on their own computer, all at home.

Be careful out there.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

I would clarify with a line manager, should be a giggle.
