Just had our revision, some walks OKish some impossible.Planner went out with one pair this week took 2 hrs O/T to get walk done.Planner says loops are OK and that the pair need to get out quicker to complete, only problem is that if they do that they need to leave the office to start the walk BEFORE they actually start their shift!

Personally I think they're brilliant. Never really found they slow me down much, in fact i'd say they're easily quicker to use than a HCT. More importantly though I can take out 2 entire bags without having any weight on my back whatsoever. Also easier to sort out parcels/739's etc without having to mess about with the lock on a HCT. I find they work best on walks where you have a van available, so you still have the option of using a bag on the shoulder for small/light loops, and then the LWT for larger ones.

The only thing i'd change is to make ones that have a higher handle. I'm not even that tall, but still find I have to crouch slightly when using it.

The same genius that thought no postman/woman should have to carry a heavy bag on there back for 4-5 hours a day! Bet you think taking a break is a Rubbish idea to! And that starting 40 minutes before your time and working for free is a great idea!
Sorry what? Actually mate I take my break every single day! And I don't work for free so I don't start early! So before you start having a pop! My point is the new work methods are s**t.
People complain about LWTs and HCTs, they complain about more DTD and portering and such like, all these things do take more time yes, more time = more jobs right? no not more jobs but keeping the ones we have, sequenced mail was RMs way of killing indoor work and prehaps making most jobs partime as a result, i think the CWU played a blinder agree stuff that slows us down, whats the rush mate? a rush to partime hours or the dole que?

In most delivery offices they are used by people who like to decrease their hours and earning potential to weigh down yorks and vans because they sometimes blow away in the wind

We use our lwt's on the heavier loops and bags on lighter one's or if it's a loop that benefits from using the bag, ie you know you can walk the front of houses saving a lot of time. The reason we need to save time is because, yes the job can be too big on certain days, usually packets slowing us down. My point here is that we take our duty to our finish time, NO LAPSING. On lighter days if they try to push extra on us, we use lwt's all the way round and invite managers out with us as we have nothing to hide. Like a lot of others here using the lwt to rule would definitely take us over, and they don't want that.

Dear oh dear. What have we alwaysvcomplained about in delivery? The weight on our backs, going out like donkeys etc. Now we dont have to as we have delivery methods, and yes they slow us down on delivery so what. Thats the point, its why managers had to be instructed by the agreement to get rid of cars on delivery. We have more time to deliver but that doesnt mean a much heavier round. They are not mobile pouch boxes and thats the important thing to remember when planning new walks, you can still get 'replenishment' from drivers, they may take getting used to and they are not going away, and whats more with a little cold box in they give your beer of choice nice and cold

the other issue is when you occasionally drag one over the kerb a bit too quickly and the whole thing topples over with bags ending up all on the ground of a busy crowded street

not that i've ever done this of course :whistle
