30 hour week

Post by vicki610 »

yes i work 30hour week usually 7am-1pm.
does this mean i go in @ 8.15am?
the managers werent sure how this later start would affect me coming in later than everyone else. theres a new girl started at ours, usual time 9.15am except since she started the managers told her to start @ 8am instead. as from wednesday will she start @ 10.30am? that would be madness and by doing these later starts we will lose credability with our customers & it is US who get all the earache from these people!!!

vicki610: if you are doing the job properly you shouldn't be booking overtime to clear your delivery. The whole point is to cause maximum disruption. so you need to cut off and take mail back to the office and let the management deal with it. And yes more and more offices are doing it, but not enough. It takes a lot of backbone to Do the job properly its hard work. but well worth the result. Ask anybody who works at Southend Watford or stretham.

They cannot penalise you for doing the job properly. If there is a Union rep there, let them know what you are doing before you tell management. If they try any pressure get the union rep down so that they can hear any threats.
Relax and dont let them wind you up. That is your job to do it to them :Very Happy

We won't win a thing unless we shut the whole mail system down for as long as it takes.

The RM board are prepared for one day rolling stoppages and they will let us carry on with them while they implement all the changes they want, during this current part of the dispute they are imposing the later starts on us and the CWUs reaction is to tell us to go along with it. The later starts are here forever now, and you've got to wonder what deals have been done behind the members backs on other issues such as D2D.

The public hardly noticed the rolling strikes because they got mail 5 days a week, we have to do whatever it takes to win this dispute and if that means staying out from now 'till Christmas we have to be prepared to do it.

Another option is to take the dispute out of the leaderships hands and embark on a series of wildcat strikes that will paralyze the system and return the CWU to its members. We need a fighting union and we need it now.

I`m surprised they haven`t imposed the pay rise like they did last time. The public may not have noticed the rolling strikes but the management certainly did. Yes if everyone walked out unofficially it would have an effect but we know that won`t happen. There`s even a couple of offices mentioned here that didn`t walk out on official action, what odds on unofficial?

If you start taking unofficial action you will forfeit your current contract and will be forced to return under a new (unfavourable) contract, be careful do not lose your head over this, this must be done offically and sensibly anything else would play into RMs hand and it will be YOU that will end in the shite

We have been through this earlier in the thread......an all out will see a huge split in the workforce, some of us could just about handle one days pay being docked, the 2 days docked pay from last week and this coming week will put a lot of people in the extremely skint bracket and to ask them to go on an all out strike is a NO....NO .It would see people with no choice but to drift back to work.....i still say the rolling strikes are the best ammo in our weaponry + the "do the job properly"

I agree all out will not achieve anything other than a quick breakdown of this strike and more in fighting.
If only we could maybe stop delivering our competitors mail, the s**t would hit the fan then but i reckon the legal side of that would be against us.

I'm sure top management would love an all out strike. It'd be dead within a fortnight at best. Then they'd be able to introduce whatever they wanted and we'd have no way to fight them. They're no doubt fully prepared to battle an all out as they know only too well it just would NOT last. How on earth these people who continually call for ALL OUT action expect people to survive with no pay at all is completely beyond me.

Agree, all out in this day and age is total madness.Well supported rolling action, do the job properly, still the order of the day imo. Even better what about a 3 hour strike! Lose less pay and cause chaos.Half completed walks etc. Just an idea.
