Hold on,tell you what,go to one of your firms and ask for a freebie.
Or go to your nearest school and ask for free home teaching for your kids.
Yeah you know what the answer will be,a big fat NO.
So why should we give out freebies,f**k em,they should pay.
Both sets take it for granted, especially the schools.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i can see the charge being justified if the delivery point is accessable during the holiday period.eg the school just dont want mail during the holidays.Spedley wrote:Most of the schools in our office are bulk drops and would be done by a driver except during holidays. The mail is just kept under the frame in letter trays.
How can RM charge schools when there is actually less work to do?
if its a case of the school building being shut with no letterbox then RM cant charge it.what are they going to do? condemn the mail during the holidays? no they have no option but to hold the mail.
in our office we have a mix of van/foot school deliveries in our office.
however we do have some who collect mail from the office(firms & residential) for various reasons.i previously queried this as they were not paying.
got the manager shrug.
some a moaning faced twats who come in too early before the mails up and cause hassle so i will be happy to tell them they have to pay :D

I hate to say it Postman, but i do get freebies and staff discounts from some of the firms i deliver to, anything from 10%-40%. I don't expect it and i don't abuse their generosity.Hold on,tell you what,go to one of your firms and ask for a freebie.

The best firm of all though is one of the jewellers i deliver to, who has made 3 seperate pieces for me in silver and not charged me. Every year he closes his business for 2 weeks in the summer. Every year he puts in a keepsafe (for which RM charges). Every year RM f**k up his keepsafe and every year i make sure he gets compensation.

Fair do's some of you, different round my way they just moan.
But in all fairness the revenue lost has to be quite big.
Not trying to sound like :lfo :cfo but there's a lot of libertys being taken by some.
A bit of a grey area me thinks.
