More action by Royal Mail staff at Stanmore office could be on the way says union

http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/10724686._/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?

A union has warned that staff at a Royal Mail sorting office could strike again following industrial action last week.

Workers from Stanmore’s Royal Mail sorting office walked out for a second time on Friday and Saturday over accusations of unfair workloads, bullying and harassment from senior managers.

It was the second picket outside the Parr Road depot, off Honeypot Lane by members of the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU), who also went on strike on September 28.

Last week a deal was offered by Royal Mail management but staff turned it down and voted to take action again.

Ian Murphy, Harrow and District branch representative for the CWU, says there will not be any action this week but warned there could be more strikes later this month.

Mr Murphy said: “Management gave us one or two concessions but they were just not enough.

“All the staff feel very strongly about this and all voted in favour of taking action again. They are aware of the consequences to their pay packets but they feel the issues have not been addressed.

“Managements know there is a problem there but they haven’t done anything about it and they are not taking it seriously.”

Royal Mail says it was disappointed members of staff voted in favour of the second round of industrial action and apologised to customers for any inconvenience.

It is understood staff from other officers in different parts of the county were brought in to cover the action and keep deliveries going.

The strike in September was the first time the depot had taken industrial action, independent of national walkouts, since the 1980s.

An announcement on whether any further strike action will take place will be made later this week depending if a meeting between the union and management is arranged.

Royal Mail says it was disappointed members of staff voted in favour of the second round of industrial action and apologised to customers for any inconvenience.

Will Royal Mail also be apologising to the 'staff' who have been subjected to B&H and unfair workloads too?
Or am I being foolishly optimistic?

Surely it's plain for anyone to see, since there hadn't been any strikes since the 80's.....

It's not fooking Rocket Science, what's happening, is it?

Planned industrial action: Stanmore Delivery Office (HA7), Saturday 26 October
Royal Mail is disappointed that members of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) have voted in favour of industrial action at Stanmore Delivery Office on Saturday.

If the action takes place, managers and other volunteers will be delivering to as many customers as possible, ensuring all priority mail - including Special Delivery™ and Tracked™ items - and as many parcels as possible are delivered. Collections in the area from postboxes, Post Office® branches as well as business collection customers are expected to be made as normal and at the usual times. The Enquiry Office at Stanmore will remain open as normal, for customers to collect items for which we've left a 'Something for you' card.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers as a result of the CWU's action.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Seems RM have been disappointed a lot recently. They will be again on November 4th.

Could be argued it is also down to their own inaction, and refusal to hold proper and meaningful talks.

its all happening for Royal Mail. :Very Happy

Un-ballotted industrial action Wimbledon Delivery Office - SW13-SW15, SW19 & SW20
Staff have stopped work at Wimbledon Delivery Office today in connection with a local issue. Deliveries of all mail in the SW19 area have been affected. We are now utilising managers and others to deliver as many items as we can this afternoon. We will be making efforts to perform as many collections from business customers as we can today, however customers may wish to post mail at a local Post Office® or the Wimbledon Delivery Office at 12 Cranbrook Road, LONDON, SW19 4BB. The enquiry office at Wimbledon remains open for customers to collect items where we have previously left a ‘Something for you’ card.

Plaistow Delivery Office - items for collection in the E13 postcode area
Following a break in at our Plaistow Delivery Office last night (2nd December) a number of items awaiting collection have been taken from the Enquiry Office there. All items were for customers in the E13 postcode area. Any customer who may be affected by this incident or have queries about their item, should call 08457 740740. The enquiry office continues to be open at the normal times and mail deliveries and collections in the E13 area are unaffected.

Nuneaton Delivery Office (CV10-CV13)
Our Nuneaton Delivery and Enquiry Offices in Church Street remain closed following damage to a small section of the ceiling by a vehicle. The ceiling contains an asbestos coating which may have been disturbed as a result. The office will be closed until further notice as a precaution and to allow the necessary safety testing to take place. We will provide further information as soon as this is available.

Deliveries are now operating from alternative premises and we aim to provide as near normal a service as possible over the coming days. The address of the new site is: Unit C4, Three Spires Industrial Estate, Ibstock Road, Coventry, CV6 6JR.

If we've tried to deliver an item and have left a 'Something for you' card dated Friday 29th November or after, these items can be collected from the above address. Items we've be unable to deliver prior to this are currently being held securely at the Nuneaton Office and cannot be accessed at this time. Redeliveries of undeliverable items can only be booked for items left on or after Friday 29th. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause; we’re working very hard to return services to normal as quickly as possible. We are unable to confirm a date for the re-opening of the original Nuneaton Delivery Office at this time. Further information regarding this incident will appear on our Midlands Service Update page, as it becomes known.
