Just posted a reply and will be interesting to see if it gets posted!!

Unfortunately, I don't think the CWU has done a very good job on getting our side over to the public, though we certainly have had much support on the picket line.

Hang in there!!

I think the problem of making the public understand why we are striking is a difficult proposition. Should this have been a one-issue action then it would have been far easier, for instance, just pay. However there are at least four main strands to the industrial action: pay, conditions, job losses and pensions. All of which are very detailed issues with in each category.

When the mail strike is reported on television in short bites very little of these main issues is examined thoroughly so as to make the public aware of the appalling measures Royal Mail want to introduce. We hear from Royal Mails’ prospective the term “Modernisation,â€

Get the message across? It can all be summed up as DOWN STREAM ACCESS. The rest is negotiable with Royal Mail. DOWN STREAM ACCESS is giving these two tossers the excuse they need to claim proffit loss. Faullt lays with our Labour brothers and sisters (thanks reg) who take our money. Then dont represent C.W.U. views at all. The sooner we stop funding the new torys the better. If all Unions did that (and more are every day) then the T.U.C. could fund their own political party that represents the same workers politicaly that they represent in the work place. THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL WE BE FREE TO GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS WITH OUT ALANS JOHNSONS DINNER PARTY CHUMS F***ING IT UP FOR US.

I for one find it EXTREMELY interesting how its never brought up that leighton was free to negotiate a DSA deal with competitors and the only thing he came back with is a deal that LOSES us a few pence on each item we handle, TOP BUSINESS ACUMEN THERE MATE!!! how convenient that this is never published anywhere for the public to read???????????
