We have offered a £300 lump sum in year one as part of our proposed agreement. The £300 lump sum (pro-rata for part timers) would be payable in December 2013, as long as there is no industrial action.

Many of you said that it is unfair that people should lose this money if they work normally when others in their office go on strike.

TO ALL MEMBERS SW/SW

You will have today received a letter from our CEO Moya Greene containing what can only be described as an act of desperation from the Company. The suggestion that Postal Workers must attend work during any strike days or risk losing £300 is both untruthful and embarrassing in equal measures.

PAY

The letter claims that a £300 lump sum will be paid to any frontline member of staff that breaks a strike. Every single postal worker in the Country will know that at some point in this dispute an agreement will be reached. It is the CWUs ambition to reach an agreement without the need to take any action. What is beyond any doubt though is that the Union would never sign up to a deal that gave a lump sum to anyone that undermined the dispute while punishing those who have stood up and fought for our futures. It is fantasyland for Moya Greene to suggest otherwise.

The letter also misleads CWU members by talking of a 3 year pay deal. Royal Mail have offered a definite percentage rise in year one but years two and three are offered on the basis that the company can review the rise at the relevant time. In affect this means we have only one pay rise guaranteed out of the three years. Those are the facts.

WIDER VIEW

Although as I have pointed out below the attempt to bribe us has no foundations it is useful to take a deeper look at why Royal Mail is trying to split the workforce. They are trying to focus the debate on the short term. They are trying to avoid a debate on how vulnerable our terms and conditions will be in three years if Royal Mail win this dispute.

£300 today but you’ll lose £600 a month EVERY month after three years when your pay is cut to TNT Rates. £300 today but your Pensions will be devastated in three years when shareholders eye our funds as a cash cow. £300 today but you’ll sign away your rights for sick pay in three years. £300 today but an immeasurable cost tomorrow.

ROYAL MAIL COMMS

Taking a step back from the eye of the storm offers the chance to see how desperate the company have become. Dozens of letters to our home addresses, posters all over the workplaces, non-stop information on the TV Screens and managers forced to deliver messages at WTL sessions.

The CWU have won the battle for the hearts and minds of Postal Workers. We will not be bribed and anyone with an ounce of sense knows that the only organisation attempting to protect our futures is YOUR Union.

The best possible way of obtaining the result that we all desire is to achieve a massive YES vote in the strike action ballot. Don’t be distracted by bombardment in ‘news’ from Royal Mail that makes the Former Iraqi Communications Minister ‘Comical Ali’ look professional.

last ditch effort from moya! this will only win over the cowards who were going in if a strike is called anyway so no harm done! i ask whats £300 with what they will do to us in the next few years if we dont show we back our union so they have the power when negotiating on our behalf! believe me if they see us not backing our union they will turn up the heat on our jobs even quicker! its our last stand!

Even if the £300 existed which it doesn't as part of the deal which also doesn't exist...the plan was to pay it in December,which you can take as being the 31st of December.
That was the whole point of it,a no strike agreement to take us past the point where strikes would be effective...rendering strikes completely.....ineffective.

its all beginning to sound like E=mc2, but since albert is long gone maybe we should ask stephen hawking to do the negotiating. albeit in a paralell universe where the 300 quid is bent through a wormhole and no longer exists in the spacetime continuum,,,,and we do the park and loop at 88mph in a delorean.

The union should use this to their advantage.
Without a Yes vote in the ballot the threat of strikes is removed.
If the threat of strikes is removed then there is no need for this bribe and since it is not part of a negotiated settlement Royal Mail will likely remove it.
In order for members to have a chance of taking a bribe for not striking they must first secure a mandate for striking by voting Yes.
It's only common sense.

How amusing that would be, if all the Dickheads voted No and actually lost themselves the Bonus However Moya would have achieved her aim of a No strike!

I always thought the cost of betrayal was 30 pieces of silver....obviously the price of silver is now at an all time high...hence the inflation. But look on the bright side PRO-RATA is now working in OUR favour. If you're part time you only dip out on half the bribe.
