I think we will get £500 in total as the others have been agreed in separate negotiations. I.e 2 separate £100 deals. I do think it is funny how union or Royal Mail have not confirmed this. Maybe they are both waiting for the first one to slip up.

Me personally, I will ensure that any member who chooses to work and take the £300 will not ever be represented by me ever again, and I hope the CWU has the balls to expel these people. They do not deserve the title "union member"
The CWU isn't going to expel anyone given that it is already teetering on the brink of financial ruin.
What do you think your first and foremost duty is as a rep?
The trade union movement was founded on education, so rather than ostracising these people wouldn't it be better to try and educate them?
And if at first you don't succeed..........

c***

I will not represent them ever again, even hearing rumours of a close CWU colleague going in :left:

£300 Today – Your Jobs, Terms and Conditions Tomorrow

TO ALL MEMBERS SW/SW (and now RMC) :Very Happy

You will have today received a letter from our CEO Moya Greene containing what can only be described as an act of desperation from the Company. The suggestion that Postal Workers must attend work during any strike days or risk losing £300 is both untruthful and embarrassing in equal measures.

PAY

The letter claims that a £300 lump sum will be paid to any frontline member of staff that breaks a strike. Every single postal worker in the Country will know that at some point in this dispute an agreement will be reached. It is the CWUs ambition to reach an agreement without the need to take any action. What is beyond any doubt though is that the Union would never sign up to a deal that gave a lump sum to anyone that undermined the dispute while punishing those who have stood up and fought for our futures. It is fantasyland for Moya Greene to suggest otherwise.

The letter also misleads CWU members by talking of a 3 year pay deal. Royal Mail have offered a definite percentage rise in year one but years two and three are offered on the basis that the company can review the rise at the relevant time. In affect this means we have only one pay rise guaranteed out of the three years. Those are the facts.

WIDER VIEW

Although as I have pointed out below the attempt to bribe us has no foundations it is useful to take a deeper look at why Royal Mail is trying to split the workforce. They are trying to focus the debate on the short term. They are trying to avoid a debate on how vulnerable our terms and conditions will be in three years if Royal Mail win this dispute.

£300 today but you’ll lose £600 a month EVERY month after three years when your pay is cut to TNT Rates. £300 today but your Pensions will be devastated in three years when shareholders eye our funds as a cash cow. £300 today but you’ll sign away your rights for sick pay in three years. £300 today but an immeasurable cost tomorrow.

ROYAL MAIL COMMS

Taking a step back from the eye of the storm offers the chance to see how desperate the company have become. Dozens of letters to our home addresses, posters all over the workplaces, non-stop information on the TV Screens and managers forced to deliver messages at WTL sessions.

The CWU have won the battle for the hearts and minds of Postal Workers. We will not be bribed and anyone with an ounce of sense knows that the only organisation attempting to protect our futures is YOUR Union.

The best possible way of obtaining the result that we all desire is to achieve a massive YES vote in the strike action ballot. Don’t be distracted by bombardment in ‘news’ from Royal Mail that makes the Former Iraqi Communications Minister ‘Comical Ali’ look professional.

VOTE YES X

if your going to pick and choose what union members you are going to represent its as bad as picking and choosing what strikes to observe or to work in my opinion,

i think if your not going to fairly represent all members then you should resign as rep

and if you didnt i think that someone should stand against you and get you out and let someone who is going to fairly represent the workforce in your office take the job

Post the letter up on union notice boards with a banner saying don't give in to the blackmail as it's short term gain long term pain. There will be strike breakers no matter what. I think the best tactic the cwu can have is to publicly rally people at gate meetings prior to starting shifts. We now need to stand out from the crowd rather than hide in the shadows.

Brilliant so now I'm a strike breaker?

You'd have to carry me over a picket line in a wooden box.

f**k them. I couldn't care less anymore, if they cannot for once look at the bigger picture instead of making selfish decisions for them only, then I reiterate, I will not be representing them. Period.

I wish anyone who decides to go for the reps job the best of luck. It's a thankless task and no one can hack it in my office for long.

Letter from Moya

Post by andy3665 »

Received a letter this morning from Moya Greene, I think we all should have got it.

I noticed that they have now changed the £300 lump sum bonus ruling. It now states that anyone who strikes won't get it and if you don't strike you'll get it.

That's going to cause some issues in offices!!!

Isn't it discrimination against strikers?

Naughty Moya :no no

£300 minus tax/national insurance etc = closer to £200 in your pocket. Good luck to anyone who would sell thier soul to the devil for that amount. Especially as they will be losing that every month if we don't make a stand now!

Ah well at least that explains what that crap was that RM sent me today. I filed it unread as per usual in the recycle bin! :nana
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

If this was true even the worst legal team would tell this would be so hard to impose. It would cause national strikes and public support..

Thought we have had numerous letters from RM saying they would only bring in deal that was agreed with CWU.
Has CWU agreed to strike breakers getting £300 ?
Or has RM gone back on their word........surely not :left:

It is a pity that the CWU cannot send out a letter in a plain envelope to all employees stating that anyone not in the union will not get any negotiated deals.
All Moya has managed to do with me is increases my resolve. I will not be bullied or harassed by her or any of her minions. She may have given the Canadian Postal workers a bloody nose but come on people, this is a fight for our future, don't sell yourselves short for a short term gain. Vote Yes and withdraw your labour.

i never called you a strike breaker, just said i think that not representing all your members fairly would be just as bad as being one and that your members deserve better than that
