i've had several deliveries in the last few months by UPS from mainland europe

each time received online tracking number with expected date of delivery
each time parcel was delivered on expected day, with full online tracking details and fully insured
the pda the driver used was a smaller, neater intermec unit than those we use that captured my actual signature

where was i blaming RM for ups?

i did what i thought that could have happened, gone to number ## in the next street because when someone enters the samll area it is sign posted with MY street. when they carry on straight and bear right, it becomes another street and may give the impression of it being the same street name. anyway, nothing there. anyway it was embarrassing for me to go round other peoples houses like that, but he was good about. but still feel awkward as if i'm accusing.
could a 3 be confused for a 5, or a 5 confused for an 8?

we all know how it works, the seller provides the billing, the sender sticks on the label provided with info from the billing... nothing could go wrong? then again smudged ink, faded ink, or the printer missed out a character. they could play a part.
so, ups pick it up or seller takes it to ups.. what could go wrong next?

here is the ups PROOF of delivery note. i have omitted some of the tracking number.. but is that proof? where is the address in the proof note? that's no proof at all.

Dear Customer,
This notice serves as proof of delivery for the shipment listed below.
Tracking Number: 1Z53689268###### Reference Number(s):1#####7
Service:UPS Standard® Weight:5.00 kgs
Shipped/Billed On: 02/09/2013 Delivered On::03/09/2013 12:18
Delivered To: CARMARTHENSHIRE, GB Left At:Mailbox
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
UPS

so, in the meantime i'm huffing and puffing, where the hell is my usb etc..emailing the sender..

today i have received two emails.. one is from ups.
it said delivered 03/09/2013 12:18 sa18 2 Carmarthenshire

where the hell did this 2 come from? it's not in the proof note, so ups know something more. i just asked them, do me a favour and stop wasting everyones time, just ask the driver in case they remember.. then again i'm ony acting on the info or partial info ups are giving.

then again sa18 2 is miles away covering an area of 3 miles i reckon. i would have thought that the driver would have realised that the street name he delivered to does not match the street name on the label. are they delivering by gps satnav? say for example the labelling had number 42 bishops road ammanford. there is only one bishops road in ammanford. so why would it go anywhere else.

it would be a bit more understandable if there were common address such as high street. there's a high street in ammanford, then again there's a high st in llandybie but that's sa18 3 .. glanamman is sa18 1.. betws is sa18 2. so if they replace my prefix with a 2, it's around betws somwhere.. but there is no number house in that road that has the same number as me, and i'm wasting my time and effort again because of someone's muck up

surely if someone has been misprinting the billing address, who?.. the only way an address can be misprinted is if it was manually typed. i know it could be easily done but if erros occur is usually through concetration and usually rushed.. the more we rush, the more likely an error occurs.

so far i probably have amassed 4 hours in this. maybe i should charge them for MY time and everybody elses. i suppose the moral of this tale is, if the seller has printed the correct details of the billing address, then it's a 'courier' problem. according to that proof note, if they are omitting lines of address on labelling, is this a problem. then again, if anyone writes a letter or a birthday card, and just writes number 99 sa16 5gh on the envelope, it will get there.

i'm itching to know where it went wrong. i asked the company if it's possible they got it wrong (they are hardly likely to admit if it was them who manually printed the wrong label or even if there's a glitch in their pc software). i asked ups if they mucked it up (hardly likely to admit it as well)..

it sounds daft if i report it to the police, saying someones nicked a parcel fom the doorstep, when it could well be that they weren't even here in the first place. which in my case is correct. all this has caused is grief and time consuming.

the rest of the moral is, should the rest of privatisation occur, what other practices are going to be incurred into RM.

but saying that, i don't see why parcel force would print a new label. (draws a deep breath)......... sigh, i think i see what's gone wrong. the seller has printed the correct label, ups feed the info into barcode on their side and type in 2 by mistake... barcode address gets scheduled superceding the correct. and the feckers aren't reading the address on the packet, they are following the barcode. what you reckon?

then again, someone has my package. my name is on it, my address is on it (except the bit where someone has replaced one digit with another). maybe it's an empty house? pause for thought. bit it's so stupid that ups proof of delivery haven't even got the address on it. but it's strange that the email from ups today have revealed the number 2 as part of the last characters in the prefix. Unless this is a mistake.

anyway, the good news is, the company are delivering me a replacement on wednesday. jeez i'm wound up about this/ then again i would have half expected someone a mile away to realise that if someone answered their door, and maybe have read the label and realised this is wrong. some people just take a parcel assuming it's for them. maybe the person would have called round mine or asked someone if they know the person on the label.

then again they could have opened it and flog it on ebay. so that's theft. or at least opened the package and contacted the company...
it took so long to get the info from the company, if someone had robbed it and sold it, it be long gone.

i can't wait to see what ups will say whe i asked for the last two letters in the prefix

end of the day, what is secire delivery? to the rationale of us, when a delivery is made and the person receives it physically and accepts it by hand or via secure delivery through letterbox. but if there's a burglary or a delivery is half way in the letterbox, making it possible for retrieval by another person such as passer by.

if the recipient is away at the time, on holiday, work etc, technically they haven't received it until it's physically in their hands. so if there is a burglary whilst away, they haven't received. it's what the law interprets as secure delivery. it's reasonably safe to assume a delivery pushed through the letterbox is secure in one sense and accepted as standard practice.

leaving a delivery on a doorstep. like the ring, is it safe practice to leave a package on a doorstep on a busy road and it sounds like a house that has no frontage, terrace house, so the doorstep is virtually an inch from the pavement. a doorstep of someone's farmhouse is different from a residential area.

i wouldn't have minded if there was a note pushed through the letterbox saying sorry you weren't in, i've put it in your recycle bin or where they located it. at least RM do that. there is a difference between discretion and recklessness.. just how far this interpretation will take place is anyone's guess now. is leaving a delivery on the garden gate accepted as delivered. if they start defining a gate as property. some people have thier gate 3 metrs from their doorstep if it's got a small frontage. some people's gate is 10m. or even 30m.

RM would like to ensure as part of the delivery process is best, and that is making sure the best parctice is ensuring any delivery is safe and secure. i wouldn't have a clue what is in the package, it could be an expensive ring or emeory card. i wouldn't like to make a decision that could go either way.
the problem with it's in the shed is or behind the flower pots is.....if the person is away and say the package was like a memory device, and it starts raining or showers, moisture builds up then dries out. probably it will work but i wouldn't like to use it. so the possibility of soiling occurs.

haha, i think one of my last small packets was placed on the backdoor handle. i was wondering what i can see form the kitchen. but that was a phone charger so the soiling wouldn't have been the same as a memory device. each area has it's own goings on, one discretion is different than somebody elses, and even varies not only from town to town, but different areas of that town. you might get a bit of a bad spot in one town where everything else is ok.

leaving yellow pages or next catalogues on a doorstep is one thing.. leaving mobile phones, diamond rings is another. they may as well start doing with mail what the usa paperboy does, throw it onto the lawn...delivered

latest news is.. extak are saying my correct address. how is it possible for ups to have a 2 instead of a 3 in their delivery note.
i give up. yesterday extak said i will have a replacement tomorrow, now todays email says the order has been cancelled... what a load of crock and shambles this soddin country is.

extak have my address correct. ups have got the first 4 characters right on the prefix,, and it appears there is a 2 instead of a 3, and omitted the last two letters..

for example, if my postode is 99 acacia avanue, sa18 5dd in extak's system, i ask ups what they have got in their system, and they reply sa18 6

then ups go onto to say - am sorry you have not been able to locate your shipment. Please check the general area and ask any other occupants if they received your shipment. If you are still unable to locate the missing items, we strongly suggest that you contact your shipper to initiate a package investigation.

please check the general area? check the whole of carmarthenshire???? they're having a fecking laugh or what.... even if i narrowed it down a bit to sa18 2, that means from fecking betws to glanmman, and that includes the sodding farms in the sticks.

all ups have got to do is check what my address is with extak, check in their system in their system what my adddress is when registering with them, then soddin check those two against what it actually says on their proof of delivery note... and then maybe relaise they have mucked up somehow.

i said to ups - i need you to contact the courier and find out exactly where this imaginary delivery took place and ask the driver exactly where he placed the package.. it says at mailbox. i will tell you something for nothing, my letter box is 30mm and the package would not have gone into the letter box anyway. there was no knock on the door. please sort this ridiculous farce and find out what the driver has done with my missing package.. thank you... please contact me by phone

ups - Shippers are encouraged to report lost packages because receivers may not have all the shipment information needed to perform a thorough investigation. In addition, claim notification letters are not sent to receivers. All claims are settled with the shipper.

too right i haven't got all the shipment info... when ups have replaced one number with another and omitted the last two letters in the postcode.

i asked ups why there is a 2 in the postcode in their system? when in fact there is no 2 at all in my postcode.. how has this happened? why are you telling me there is a 2 after the first four characters? no answer to that is there.

all they got is sa18 2 carmarthenshire

whhat aload of ####### . and those load of shysters as mps haven't a clue playing power politics with rm. if you have got a courier changing delivery addresses, is this acceptable for a responsible universal postal system.

if ups buy into rm.... if anyone can offer an explanation how this miraculous number change occured, let us know..

from extak - Dear Customer,
thank you for your email. I have looked into your account and I've spoken with dispatch your parcel was lost in transit. I can get the purchasing team reorder another one for you and it will be with you on Wednesday 2nd October.

from ups -
Dear John, Thank you for your response. We apologize for any inconvenience caused in this matter.
Since you are unable to locate your package, a tracer will need to be initiated. To process your tracer request, please contact your shipper.

contacted the shipper extak and asked them to activate the tracer.

email from extak -
Dear Customer,
We are sorry you are not satisfied with your order, we have received your request to cancel. We will be more than happy to provide you with
a full refund. The refund will be processed and back into your account as soon as possible. Once a refund is processed by us, you will
receive an automated confirmation and your money will reach your account within 5-7 workings days.

Kind regards
Extak

another email came from extak after the one above...

I see that the order is cancelled, would you like us to re-order another one out to you which will be delivered to you within 1-3 working days or would you prefer the full refund? I can only apologize for any inconvenience caused.

feel like banging their heads against a wall actually

Sparks fly as bankrupt electrical firm WAE+ reinvents itself as Extak

The Birmingham-based e-retailer is in its third incarnation – and the phone lines are down already

The Birmingham-based online electrical retailer WAE+, which has left a trail of unhappy customers in its wake, has gone into administration. The business has been bought by two of its former staff who are now selling similar electrical products from a new website, Extak.com.

this is effin ridiculous.. i think im beginning to see whats going on.

extak say they got my billing details, address... they send a non existent package to a non exixtent address. maybe it's an empty box.

ups on their hand have sa18 2 on theor confirmation.. so ups may have delivered whatever it was to this phantom address. an address with sa18 2 will not reach a destination as there is no actual address to send it to because the last two letters are missing from the prefix..

if there is no address or a partial postcode, how is it possible for ups to say it's been delivered at mailbox.

no wonder now they wouldn't initiate the tracer because there is nothing to trace???? and would get busted if the package was actually found.

looking at it now as well, maybe the delivery note with ups is actually blank exept the part whee it says the slightly mispelled street name, and the partial postcode prefix, because that is how they received it
