So you would rather the members went through three years of uncertainty wondering what will happen to their terms and conditions than fight now for an agreement that protects more of those T&Cs and for longer?

Let's be honest if you're not willing to fight now then after 3 years of privatisation there isn't much chance of you fighting anything ever again.

There won't be a union in 3 years time unless action is taken now.

The 'pay deal' you speak of was only a proposal. It has already been rejected by the CWU, for a variety of reasons, particularly for the linkage to unacceptable pension cuts.
What do you think will happen if you, and countless others do not vote yes? (Propaganda-wise, RM will certainly count a non-returned ballot paper as meaning you are opposed to a strike). A weak YES vote on a low turnout will be a disaster for all of us. RM could withdraw their pay proposal completely, leaving us on our existing pay rates. In effect a pay cut!!!

What do you think the outcome on a vote to the workforce on the proposed payrise would have been?

It appears management are correct in their assumptions that there is a lot of postal workers are stupid, is this a wind up, or is there postal workers out there that are actually happy with the offer that was correctly rejected, do you not realize this ballot is for your future, a friend of mine has just got himself a job for TNT delivering mail around Manchester SIX POUNDS NINETY PER HOUR, NO CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT, NO HOLIDAY PAY, NO GUARANTEED HOURS, are you so naïve this will not happen to us, pleeeeeeeeeeeze wake up.

Look at other companies that have been privatised. The gas, electric and rail companies all provide decent training, salary and employees enjoy long careers. They are provided with decent equipment and vans to do the job. Royal Mail currently does not do this. This company needs to be modnernised and efficient.

This is true. I drive all night and you don't see many of these firms with old vehicles. When you look at stobart, sainsbury ,tesco, british gas, BT and a lot of others they are well presented

Do you really believe this will happen? It won't. After three years of our pay going up, they won't suddenly put all workers on minimum wage. Just nonsense that I have heard many times. Based on no fact.

The truth is we don't know what might happen, neither do you.
That's why we want as much job security as we can get.
You would rather take your chance that Royal Mail will just be nice to us,that's up to you but going on past experience and the fact that we're paid a lot more than most unskilled jobs it seems a bit risky to me.

Why would they pay untrained, unskilled workers £10 an hour, when they could legally lower the base rate of pay and still have people queuing up to do the job? Good will?

Amen brother :Applause

People will fall over themselves for a job with us for £7.00 an hour.

Plenty of migrants about

From above article

I'm a post 'deliverer' in the Netherlands for PostNL (the TNT company) - most of the 'real' post men and women were made redundant because they were too expensive. The post is now delivered by part-timers on near minimum wage
