No strikes before privatisation?

Just been reading on the BBC, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24294745, that they are confident in completing the privatisation before the ballot results are announced, or maybe finished.

Perhaps we should all consider working to rule up until the strike,no one in early,correct delivery methods utilised,breaks taken,no overtime worked,that alone will have a massive effect and give a taste of what is likely to come.We will still be paid and be going home on time,no more goodwill.

That would be interesting in my office working to rule, most of the part timers are on 20hr contracts and therefore there time would be up at half past one,when the office finish time is three o'clock

As soon as I heard in WTLL this week, via RMTV, that they had set a closing date of 7th October for people to 'opt out' of the free shares, my brain thought...
'Dammit, that's a full 16 days before our earliest legal strike date, 23rd October!'

I suspected straightaway that they were aiming to float the business on the stock market in that 'window of opportunity'.

Our ballot is not designed to prevent the sale of Royal Mail. However, it is designed for members to say an overwhelming 'YES' to give CWU the base from which to protect and improve our pay, terms and conditions, pension and job security.

This government is hell-bent on selling Royal Mail so short of the population marching on parliament to stop it, the sale will go through. We can, and will, make the 'new owners' very aware that we are not going away, and will always be the thorn in their side for a long time to come if we show solidarity at this crucial time.

Wrong! This union is ahead of the game and prepared to vote and negotiate with a nationalised company or a private company for our terms and conditions for the future regardless of who owns the company. Don't forget with only 40-50 % being sold off and 10% going to employees the Government will still have a major say as a large stakeholder possible the major stakeholder 10% employee 40% private 50% Government.

I don't anybody from general public who are buying. Industrial action will throw a spanner in the works, there's no doubt about that. Hope your right.

Our office would prefer to work to rule /others said they are coming in, can't be bother after the last strike was a disaster think the horse has bolted
