Some advce please

We are still lapsing in our office mon,tues,sat double lapsing then wed,thursday,fri single lapsing if you have the time
We have been told by the union rep that our office wants all time made back ,period
On tuesday even with lapsing a few still make time ,not running round just low mail volumes on that day
So we were told that on busy days we ARE expected to flex and work over our time if we made anything on mon,tues etc and those who wont agree to work over will be kept in on sat till time
Now as far as im aware the ones that do agree to work over will not be kept in even if they havnt worked there 39 hrs surely this is victimisation?
Any advice please other than work to your time etc ,as i start on time dont run round and do the job properly im just trying to gain some facts i can take back to the rep etc

There is no agreement on banking hours.

You can only lapse duties where time is available, measured against your 'model week' and discussed at Weekly Resource Meetings.

Do your job properly each day, and if you do arrive back at the office ahead of time, management may find you work to fill out the remainder of your day (providing you have been trained for that work) or, if your management are really sad just hold you back until your actual finishing time.

'Flexing' is to be used in exceptional circumstances only (e.g. unexpected increase in traffic on that day), where up to 30 minutes may be added to your day. You get that time back before the end of the week as you cannot be forced to work beyond your contracted hours.

All your points are covered off in the 'Pay & Modernisation Agreement 2007-09' and 'Business Transformation Agreement 2010'. Both agreements are in the 'downloads' section here on RMC.

If your Rep/Office don't challenge the bullying tactics they will continue - contact the Area Rep or Branch Secretary and get them involved asap if the Office needs support or advice!

Our lapsing is decided on, what mail comes in that morning and staff absence from what i can see and its ok management finding you extra to do but can they apply it too some and not others?

work your hours, job and knock no longer exists, these guys completing early obviously need more work given to them.

Thats not the case at all some people are faster than others younger older etc so times vary based on age and fitness levels ,and my point is about how people who dont wish to work over are treated differently to those that do

If you don't want to work over your time then don't! Royal Mail cannot force you to work overtime. The only thing I would suggest is that you notify the line manager before you leave the pffice that you may not complete, so he makes the decision there and then as to whay you take out and what he has to get covered by his favourites, the runners or on overtime. The problem is theirs to resolve not yours.

Management always try the ''he can do it on time, so why can't you?'' argument in an attempt to intimidate posties to cut corners and/or not book overtime yet still complete. That amounts to bullying and harassment and it should be reported. The CWU have their own bullying and harassment contact numbers/email addresses ...
