Man injured in 20ft fall at Shrewsbury's Royal Mail sorting office

A man suffered serious head injuries after falling 20ft inside the Royal Mail sorting office in Shrewsbury.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, fell at the sorting office in Castle Foregate, police said today.
Police were called to the sorting office following a report of an intruder, shortly before the incident happened.
The injured man was taken to hospital in Stoke-on-Trent, where he is understood to be in a stable condition.
Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “Police attended the Royal Mail sorting office in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, shortly after 1am on Sunday following a report of an intruder.
“A man believed to be in his 20s subsequently fell about 20ft sustaining serious head injuries.
“He remains in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke.”
He said investigations were taking place regarding the report of an intruder and what caused the man to fall.

He was probably lost. In Shrewsbury it's usually the River Severn that youngsters fall into at that time of night.
