delivery methods
can anyone tell me how much longer the walker has to walk compared to the driver who should be delivering the packets should the driver have less of a walk

Re: delivery methods
If a large packet doesn't fit into your pouch along with your mail and other small packets then the driver takes it. If the packet is over-weight driver takes it.
Drivers usually do around 60-75% as much as passenger on each loop in my limited experience. If you are having issues raise them and ask for the loops to be redesigned. They are not always perfect. Also take your time, do not rush around just because the driver is always finished before you - that means his loop is too small.

Re: delivery methods
drivers loops should be smaller than the passenger loops if the duty is planned correctly. this gives him/her that extra bit time to zip around with the large packets. equating the workload.,,,,,,alledgedly.

Re: delivery methods
Ideally a 20 min shorter loop first, then equal. Or all loops 5 mins less for driver.
In reality both will drive unless non licence holder.

Re: delivery methods
Why would one duty have to do less than the other?
My P&L is roughly equal but the bulks are done by both of us if needed.
I don't see how other offices are so bad at being able to sort their van share out

Re: delivery methods
they dont do less if properly planned. while the driver is off doing packets in the van the passenger postie is still going as his loops are bigger. van share is this way because a lot of passenger posties cannot/dont drive. they were probably planned with which would be the quickest way in mind.DGP1 wrote:Why would one duty have to do less than the other?

Re: delivery methods
So why make one loop shorter than the other? I just don't get it, I suppose that's why P&L is working in my office, we work together to sort little problems out and that certainly doesn't include making loops shorter in a permanent basis just to suit some people.daveyeff wrote:they dont do less if properly planned. while the driver is off doing packets in the van the passenger postie is still going as his loops are bigger. van share is this way because a lot of passenger posties cannot/dont drive. they were probably planned with which would be the quickest way in mind.DGP1 wrote:Why would one duty have to do less than the other?

Only one person is allowed to drive the vehicle unless duty vehicle checks are carried out and log book filled out every time you change drivermandelsons_toenail wrote:Ideally a 20 min shorter loop first, then equal. Or all loops 5 mins less for driver.

Re: delivery methods
If loops aren't shorter, when are the over-sized packets delivered? There has to be some time for the driver to do these, whether it be a few loops shorter, or in the case of the 2 deliveries I am on currently an odd number of loops, meaning the driver (myself) does a driving loop (delivering over-sized's) whilst the walker is doing the odd loop.DGP1 wrote:So why make one loop shorter than the other?
