20 hour contract breaks
If you work a 20 hour contract (5x4hrs) how much meal relief are you entitled to? Our duty sheets have down 20 mins, but our DOM says even though its on the duty we aren't actually entitled to it. Surely this can't be right?

He/she just wants you to do more work.
You are entitled, so take it.
Raise it with the Rep/Area Rep. If no joy (unlikely), then grievance. Preferably a few of you in the same position.

Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Re: 20 hour contract breaks
Yes 20 mins meal break due. Yet another case of a lying, cheating, thieving dom trying to screw over their staff. I've experienced similar problems and the grievance procedure should be the way to go. Sadly this is a corrupt system where one dom hides behind another. They should be sacked but they won't be.

Re: 20 hour contract breaks
He is confusing himself.
Under the current legislation you are entitled to a Statutory break if you work, or are expected to, 6 hours or more. Therefore you are not entitled to a statutory break.
However, as Royal Mail operate under "Collective Agreements" which form part of your contract, and because as highlighted above there is a collective agreement detailing breaks based on attendance then you have a "Contractual" right to have a break.
Hit him with that and apart from confusing him, you may be able to claim back all the untaken breaks, but as suggested get a rep on board to help you.
