If Moya Greene has transformed Royal Mail, in which Sids with £750 to spare can soon buy shares, then what was Adam Crozier doing during his seven years leading the company?
“The transformation of Royal Mail is well under way,” Greene remarks in the latest annual report, pointing out that the UK arm had recovered from “significant cash outflows” three years earlier.
Yet glance back at some of the statements made by ITV’s current golden boy while he was running the postal network until 2010 and it’s less clear who did all the hard work.
“The transformation of the business is well under way and on track to ensure it has the modern operation key to its future,” Crozier wrote in the 2009 annual report. Three years earlier, he hailed an “outstanding performance [which] shows we now have the solid base needed to launch the transformation of the company”.
A quick word search settles it. “Transform”, or a derivative of it, appears 156 times in the latest Royal Mail annual report, compared with just 15 in 2009 and a measly seven in 2010 after Crozier had taken his leave. That imprecise measure suggests Greene is the transforming boss, or at least keener to boast about it.
Does this mean Crozier’s eventual successor at ITV will have to carry on transforming the broadcaster too?

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Have you noticed how all these so called Bosses look the same?
Chinless, and shifty eyed. I wouldn't trust them to run me a bath.
How did we as a country get into such a f..king state?

I will say one thing for Crozier we received every bonus payment he promised whilst he was in charge .... whereas soon as Moya took charge our colleague shares were deemed worthless

Re: City Spy: Whose stamp on ‘first-class’ Mail revival?
So who did put their stamp on the Mail?
A reader writes in to welcome City Spy’s story last week, which asked just who led the transformation of the Royal Mail. Was it current chief executive Moya Greene, as the Mail likes to suggest ahead of its £3 billion stock market float, or the posties’ former boss, Adam Crozier?
“Adam, for all his faults, actually did a huge amount,” the anonymous scribe writes in a letter (sent by old-fashioned snail mail), which praises the agreement that Crozier struck to change regulation, his revision of delivery routes and pension plan savings. “Whereas Moya… er… well she got a very big housing allowance…and brought a lot of Canadians on hilarious salaries (including her former secretary)… and won’t stand up either to government or to the unions.”
Royal Mail sources insist that Greene’s current secretary is Irish, not Canadian. The whereabouts of her former secretary appears to be a mystery, though.
City Spy is sure the letter was not the work of Mary Fagan, Crozier’s queen of spin since his Royal Mail days, who works for him now at ITV. If it had been, she wouldn’t have been so absent-minded as not to have signed it!
