Free shares cannot be sold until 3 years are up.

The CWU will not agree to a no strike clause in any future agreement. The 6% dividend is being paid by the government as a sweetener to attract investors and is only guaranteed for the first dividend. As no government will reduce the USO 6 day a week delivery to every address, the only way for profits to be made is to reduce the terms and conditions of postal workers. Forget about Royal Mail taking packet business from DHL etc, the competition are cheaper and have a slave labour force. The CWU will strike every time terms and conditions are threatened, people won't get their mail and MPs will lose their seats. Forget about Royal Mail creating new business, management can just about manage cutting costs because bullying does not require brain power. Royal Mail management don't have one GCSE to rub between them. They are exceptionally thick people who got their jobs through nepotism and cronyism. The workforce used to tolerate this because management would do CWU grade work to cover absence.

Repeated strikes will force the government to re-nationalise Royal Mail like they had to do with Railtrack. Investors could stay to take their 6% but the share price will drop and they will be out of pocket. Nobody thinks that the assets can be stripped before re-nationalisation. Railtrack shares were sold for 370p. They went down to 17p and the government had to make them up to 262p but only after investors had to club together to hire expensive lawyers.

Anyone who buys Royal Mail shares is a mug.

I am up for the fight and I will support any rep who has a bogus bullying and harassment charge slapped on them by management favourites. If management can't hold a fair hearing, the disciplinary hearing will not take place no matter how much management spend on union busting lawyers.

I wonder what the legal position would be if you stuck them on ebay with the stipulation that they can't be cashed for 5 years.
You obviously couldn't transfer the shares directly but you could probably come up with a legally binding promissory note covering the sale.
I promise to pay the bearer 725 Royal Mail shares on the 16th October 2018.
Somebody will probably try it.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
