Re: Shares - what a joke
The comment about the 'shiny vans' is very disturbing.
It does not matter what mode of transport was used. It is about the efficiency of the method and customer satisfaction.
The irony is that Postman Pat actually had a van (the cat issue is a moot point). But Postman Pat served a rural community and he was part of the community (along with his cat). It is essentially the sort of service that we might start to deliver to rural areas, remote areas (not cities) under severe pressure/lower pay for delivering more items (packets, tracked, d2ds and dsas) that is the real issue.
Talk of shiny vans and PDAS and traceability is just progress but it goes with the general trend and change from customers - it is not a big deal. It is the same stupid argument people used to justify BT (wow, we now have mobile phones and do not have to wait ages to be connected or to even get a BT phone device - these are natural progress not a result of privatisation or better management).
Cloherty - you are using some Royal Mail propaganda methods - fluff, really! Although, I do think some of your points are good even if not bucking the trend on this forum.

No,he is a truck driver who spends too long in his cab on his own,so comes on here spouting rubbish to get people to talk to him, humour him it is a sad and lonely life truck driving and can be quite painful when the farmer giles get irritated.Chelseablue wrote:Clocherty I take it you're not a walking postman?

Re: Shares - what a joke
Someone mentioned they more or less have to stay employed with RM for the 3 years to get the shares and if a great job comes then they cant go for it etc etc .
Well if a new job comes along then take it as the shares will only be worth about £2k and the new job will probably be better paid so just forget the shares and go .

Re: Shares - what a joke
Shares for staff is a complete waste of time they will be too fragmented to be able to become a force with share holders rights. Only the big city asset stripers will be able to show any clout to RM directors. What would have been good was for the pension fund to be given the shares and then the workforce could have played a part in share holders meetings etc. via the board of trustees.

I'm gonna be here, right here when your contract is renewed with a zero hour one, when your hourly rate is the minimum, i'll be here when your holiday allowance and sick time paid is reduced, i'll be here when you pension is reduced so far that you that you can not afford to retire and have a trolly that is a Zimmer frame with a bag either side, i'll be here when you say what is the union doing about this, i'll be here to tell you i TOLD you so, shame on youcloherty1976 wrote:Viking we are not in a mess we are still in the dark ages and this privatasation will take us forward. People just worry about change. Think of postman pat had a van and a cat in 1970s tv and it was not until he late 90s we had a golf trolley to pull the mail. Now we have a shiny van for the delivery staff..

You might be here, but cloherty1976 probably won't, as he's a lardy truck-driving wind up merchant who'll likely keel over from heart related issues way before the privatisation hurt starts.AnotherLimey wrote:I'm gonna be here, right here when your contract is renewed with a zero hour one, when your hourly rate is the minimum, i'll be here when your holiday allowance and sick time paid is reduced, i'll be here when you pension is reduced so far that you that you can not afford to retire and have a trolly that is a Zimmer frame with a bag either side, i'll be here when you say what is the union doing about this, i'll be here to tell you i TOLD you so, shame on youcloherty1976 wrote:Viking we are not in a mess we are still in the dark ages and this privatasation will take us forward. A recent advertisement for my local operator was £19k starting and it goes up to £25k after 1 year, that's in the north of England.Danelectro wrote:starting salary for conductor on railway is £17k senior conductors may acheive up to £25k after long serviceOnAFlyer wrote:

You might be here, but cloherty1976 probably won't, as he's a lardy truck-driving wind up merchant who'll likely keel over from heart related issues way before the privatisation hurt starts.
Thank you I suppose I'll just have to walk off with my £10000 pound redundancy payment from the state

That's one of the benefits of zero hour contracts.cloherty1976 wrote:Thank you I suppose I'll just have to walk off with my £10000 pound redundancy payment from the state
No need to make them redundant, you just phone them as and when needed and if not needed well you just don't phone them.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Shares - what a joke
I started on a 1 hour contract 5 years ago, it totally sucked, royal mail tried to say that a weeks holiday was in fact 1 hours pay even tho i averaged 25+, in the end i was back paid a month and 2 weeks extra holiday to take, now with privatisation the dirty tactics will only get far worse.
