I was there today.

Dave ward said not to worry if things slip a couple of days, he said membership lists are spot on, but there a couple of things they are working on with their lawyers after correspondence from rm.

Why is this thread even here, the title is misleading and as usual the CWU are being slated

Amazing :cuppa
as you was there can i ask what your overall thought on the whole conference was?

I found moya to be overwhelmed by the whole thing

I found the CWU ready and 99% of the reps there ready

Dave and billy were on good form.

They are very confident of a victory

Why have they?

This was happening all along

It's the now that's important

What is worrying is how there is no share offer, prospectus etc but they know how much dividend they will pay out in June 2014 :left:

Which is weird, as the dividends are based on the amount of profits aren't they? How do they know what they'll be making then?
Even with the knowledge of the soon to be half year profit announcement (which I'd expect to be stellar just after todays announcement), that would be no guarantee for the full year. :hmmmm
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Business floated to greedy private investors before the first strike date is set oh dear! Royal Mail 1-0 CWU. There is a touch of the Roy Hodgson's and Gary Neville about Big Dave and Big Billy.

this is an important ballot
they have to get it right
royal mail will have the most expensive lawyers money can buy
going through all the small print with a fine tooth comb
trying to find any excuse
to say the strike is illegal

this is what the reality could be after privatisation and not fighting this.

delivery rounds to be franchised out, Mail Centres sold off to individual companies and reduced in numbers again , Parcel Force would the first to be sold off.

Zero contracts more widespread and renegotiation of your current terms and conditions .Your pension rights to be eradicated.

The end of the universal service in its present state and the inflation of prices

Logistics will probably be the first to be franchised out or put out to contract, with a company like Eddie Stobbarts (can't think of any other haulage company that would have depots up and down the country), with any drivers of 7.5ton and up lorrys probably always driving when they are not loading, unloading or on a legal mandatory break
