LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - April 11, 2007) - Amicus today welcomes the decision by Royal Mail to drop their proposals which would have forced managers to apply for their own jobs.
Amicus (CMA section) has been campaigning against the move for several months. Amicus National Secretary, Paul Reuter, said:
"We understand Royal Mail face many challenges, but their latest proposals were unworkable and we are happy that the organisation has dropped them. Amicus has experience in managing change in organisations that face competition and we would like to work with Royal Mail to secure their long term success."
Brian Scott, Assistant National Secretary, who has responsibility for Royal Mail Letters said:
"Royal Mail has expressed a degree of arrogance over the last few months suggesting that only they know the answers to the problems they face. We have consistently demonstrated a willingness to work with them to ensure that the management in Mail Centres and Delivery Offices is totally effective and that our members are trained, equipped and able to undertake their responsibilities to meet those challenges."
Royal Mail had initially intended to undertake some trials in six sites across the UK where new ways of working would be trialled. These came to nothing. Royal Mail has recently been criticised by the Postcomm, the Regulator, for being unable to reduce it's fixed costs. While Amicus does not necessarily accept this, we believe that this development is another example of Royal Mail's inability to manage change in an effective way.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

in our office which was a trial office, even the shift manager failed his interview, the only guy that did pass was some manager who applied for a post in our office, and in the end he was sent packing after coming down as he was utter useless as well, no man management skills whatsoever. In all honesty i don`t think the business know what they want from managers !

RM DOUBLE STANDARDS
Leighton had to keep them onside for the future strikes that Crozier had plotted in January & April . There's the little bit about Crozier saying 2-3 of his managers were average /below average which would have meant a lot of failed reapplications .The laughable irony that Joe Public doesn't understand is that RM's culture hasn't really ever been about Service or the red clawed business profit model but a culture for the benefit of it's managers. 15? layers that is more top heavy than Jordon and unheard of in the corporate world .fedup postie wrote:Hmmm RM will drop something which managers say is unworkable but when CWU say something is unworkable they take exe action![]()
And they wonder why this company is in the trouble it is!!!
