A POSTMAN from Aberystwyth has been arrested and suspended from work for allegedly using the company’s fuel card to fill up his own car.

Police and Royal Mail investigators are understood to have swooped on the man, who works at Machynlleth, at a local petrol station.

Postmen are usually given a fuel card and trusted to fill their own vans up whilst out on deliveries, but must provide a receipt at the end of their rounds.It is understood that the police investigation is looking at “hundreds of pounds” worth of fuel.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: “A 22-year-old man from the Aberystwyth area has been arrested on suspicion of theft and obtaining services by deception. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

He must have been using the "wild" card since all ours are matched to the vehicle with the registration embossed on the card.
Our wild card is locked in a drawer and if you need to use it because you've lost yours you have to sign it out,go straight to the petrol station and bring it straight back.
Unless someone looked the other way.......

We have an on site tank, and our old boss used to fill his car up every week.
But then, there was far less control then.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

The kind that has a relation as the manager for that particular depot and has had numerous complaints against him as to his driving while out delivering mail and abuse to the general public, but strangely all the complaints be it by email or letter were binned as soon as they were received.
