Well said and they cannot make you take your first break any time they choose most take it after they have tied up as we need a rest and need to go to the toilet. Had one manager insisting I took my break when it was most convenient for them and royalmail not for me and my welfare.therailway wrote:Way Forward agreement states that breaks can be split eg 20 + 20, it also says if the second break is scheduled at end of duty there is no need to remain in the office ie you can go home at the start of the final break.

You go to the toilet in your break? No chance, go in RM's time not yours.k979aaa wrote:Well said and they cannot make you take your first break any time they choose most take it after they have tied up as we need a rest and need to go to the toilet. They cannot tell you where you can have your break so they screwed up there for starters. Breaks cannot be at the end of the day either.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Union told me they pay you for you're meal break so they can tell you whatever . Getting harassed by line manager as I won't go over my time by much , every day there's a scene . His attitude towards me and sly comments means there will be a grievance going in soon . Yeah there's guys all coming in hour or so before there time,,and out on delivery till say 4 or 5 ,good on em but not me sorry . There's a few heart attacks waiting to happen in our office ,

Re: Sitting out meal relief
How close is reasonable? With the introduction of P&L, the PT break time was set at 30 minutes after we walk through the door. Dispatch time is around an hour and a quarter after I start, so there is presumably no other time it can be scheduled without placing it almost directly in the middle of delivery (because that would entail travel time to and from the office). Clearly I do not need a break after half an hour's work, but I take it as a matter of principle anyway. Especially since it eliminates any time for lapsingCharlesSpooner wrote:Regardless of the Way Forward people should be taking a break of no less than 20 minutes as reasonably close to the middle of their working day as possible.

It's in the Way Forward Agreement which you can download at http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 41#p557598
Here's the relevant bit from page 24 of the agreement:
Here's the relevant bit from page 24 of the agreement:
Breaks at the beginning or end of attendance
Where an attendance is provided with more than one break, the second break may be scheduled at the beginning or end, in which case attendance is not required solely for booking on or off. A single break should not be scheduled at the beginning or end of the attendance.
