tell me about it. My sin was I brought some mailsorts (bloody lifeline scan letters) back to the office as I couldn't finish my rural driving duty within my time so made sure the 1st class etc were all delivered. Did a collection when I got back to the office and forgot i'd left my pouch with the mailsorts in the back of my van, a lovely work colleague found my pouch the following day and rather then inform me about it took them straight to a manager.

Told them it was a mistake, that I was that busy sorting out keys, bags etc for my collection and simply forgot I had the mailsorts in the van. Literally just a few letters but I was treated as though i'd stored every letter in the country in the back. Since I've been dismissed he has let another wilful delay case go unpunished, obviously knackered the dismissal procedure up and got an ex union man who was suspended for damaging a customers property fast tracked through the ranks to become a DOM at another office.

Does anybody know what happens if my appeal isn't heard within the 4 week limit? I was dismissed on the 21st august so its just over 3 weeks, if it goes over 4 weeks have they messed up the appeal procedure as well? or can they have longer then 4 weeks without informing me why?

Bloke at my office dismissed in late April - just got ruling from final internal appeal this week - they seem to drag it out. If you are fairly confident of winning at an ET I would start putting the paperwork together,

Will give them to Wednesday and that will be the 4 weeks up and according to them a hearing should be within 4 weeks unless they write to you telling you why it can't be done within the time limit. Still had no written confirmation im dismissed, no P45 either so im going to send an ET1 form in because the whole process has been a joke from the start.

Finally had my appeal come through. I moved address after I was dismissed, had informed the DOM who said he would update my details and inform my appeal manager and then didn't bother. Had my appeals manager phone me to say the special deliveries were being returned and did they have the right address and did I still want my appeal to go ahead, glad he phoned me or they might have just cancelled the appeal.

One thing I need to ask though, had the notes from the appeal manager arrive. In it my DOM has put his decision to dismiss me and claimed one of the reasons was that I had been on a 2 day course at the royal mail training school who taught me about mail integrity. I've never been on a course or even heard of a royal mail training school? even asked my cwu rep who said its a new one on him, he has never heard of it before and thinks the DOM has just made it up to make his notes look good. All I ever had was a half day induction before starting at my office the following day and when I turned up there the managers had no idea who I was or that I was meant to start that day so had to sit doing kill offs all morning.

No.
But he was probably referring to a regional centre (ours are done at an MC) where new recruits go for initial classroom training.
If he claims that you had 2 days at this place, then he/RM should be able to provide documentation to prove it. Counter signed by you at the time.

Had my half day induction at the mail centre but never been there since so ive got no idea where the two day course came from.

I was dismissed 10 weeks ago for nt pulling hand break up fully so ended up in a bush, minimal damage to vehicle, human error so was shocked I was dismissed as I know of a postman who killed 2 ppl and still works there. I logged my appeal the same day I was dismissed and not even had a single letter yet. Rang union and managers but no answer.

Should be heard within 4 weeks according to appeal procedure. I know plenty of people who have left the handbrake off without punishment (had the drivers door ripped off one van) but it seems with all thats going on lately they are trying to get as many people out of the door as possible for any incident.

Is there anyone from your branch area that you can contact from the cwu website? Or phone hr is sheffield and they might be able to help as they usually have all the details.
