Re: Christmas 2013
Hi guys and girls,
As been quite experienced working for RM over a Christmas I can confirm the same thing happened last year, we all received our we look forward to seeing you again cards and the same early September stuff...
However there were the same problems with the website last year when trying to apply for positions, he reasons were 'the job your applying for is no longer available' 'you have already applied for this job'...
Don't worry to much, just keep trying, I think by mid September last year everything was running smoothly, im from Stockport too...
Hope this helps put some minds at ease...

Re: Christmas 2013
[EDIT: It wasn't there before, but I went back and Stoke MDEC was there so I applied. Accordingly I agree with the above comment. Just keep going back if it isn't there now]
Did a massively complicated test, verbal and numerical reasoning. I know I got at least 2/8 wrong on the latter because it timed out! However, I've apparently passed and now have to wait for someone to contact me.

Re: Christmas 2013
Glad I could help, and I wouldn't worry too much about the tests, they never seem to have no bearing, I get close to 3000 pieces of mail an hour and some people only get 500, it doesn't really matter how good you are, they tend to look more if your willing to work and that sort of thing...The Cat wrote:[EDIT: It wasn't there before, but I went back and Stoke MDEC was there so I applied. Yes, I was really good but I don't think anyone cares that much. Being a returner is a slight advantage but not that much of one, and it only really matters if you have a black mark against your name.
How's everyone else getting on? I'm waiting but I won't shed any tears over that, long waits are normal.

Re: Christmas 2013
Applied on the 2nd September at about 11:30. Everything went through fine, received two emails saying initial registration and application confirmation and the status says application received.
I guess everything has gone through as it should and the Royal Mail email attachments are just being a little slow?

I had a look on their FAQ and it does say that: "You will receive an email to advise you on your progress after the closing date, to allow time for short listing this may take up to two weeks. Please keep monitoring your emails."Rafiki wrote:Applied on the 2nd September at about 11:30. Also, on a candidate process overview PDF it says that it is a seven week process from the date of your application. It says that the application will be reviewed by their recruitment team, and then an email will be sent inviting you to an interview, or if you are not successful they will send you an email with feedback.
So far I have got the same two emails as you, but my status still says 'test finished'. I assume that the status of my application will eventually change when they have gone through the selection process?

Re: Christmas 2013
I applied this afternoon for mdec stockport and after finishing test, for 5 mins status stayed "test finished" and then changed to "invited for interview". My wife also applied in evening and gave test and since then status is staying at "test finished". I think they might have become tough this year and maybe only immediately inviting those who are getting top scores in their assessments and keeping others in queue my guess. Did anyone else immediately got interview invitiation ?mike1989 wrote:I had a look on their FAQ and it does say that: "You will receive an email to advise you on your progress after the closing date, to allow time for short listing this may take up to two weeks. How long roughly before you hear back for mail centre casual jobs? I applied on Monday. Last year was almost immediate although I did apply a bit later.

when you go to apply it says if you are registered with angard that you are already registered to work at royal mail so contact angard if you want to work the Christmas period.

Applied on the 2nd. I got the confirmation email but thats it - is this normal?
Others have their tests already, does this mean I am unsuccessful?

I received two emails.
The first was regarding my initial registration, this was your generic registration email that you get whenever you sign up to a companies' recruitment website. After this I then went through the application form and clicked send. I then received a second email called 'application confirmation' - almost instantly - which basically said that I was successful and I have reached the next stage of my application, and at this point they asked me to complete online tests within 24 hours.
I'm not sure if you get the online tests straight away on every application, but from what I can gather you generally receive the tests straight away.
What does your application status say (this is below your last application line)?
