GMB cut Labour funding
GMB union slashes Labour party funding
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... ty-funding
After the LABOUR party trying to privatise us, introducing DSA mail and a regulator that worked activley against us ; Isn't it time that the CWU did the same and withdraw the ££££ it spends on Labour, instead spending that money on paying all members who strike a daily wage to help them out.
I'd say that would be a better use of the money.

Just a thought, but the money could be distributed to everyone who attended the picket line for their normal duty time.

Fair enough it's a decent point but on a strictly political point in a country with a first past the post system who would you rather have in Government?Cut Off King wrote:Isn't it time that the CWU did the same and withdraw the ££££ it spends on Labour, instead spending that money on paying all members who strike a daily wage to help them out.
Labour,Conservative or LibDem/Whatever Coalition?
It's no good saying none of them, they're all shite because you will get one of them.
That's the bottom line, not very nice but life's like that.
As for the point of funding...who would you rather funded Labour?
The unions or...the employers.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: GMB cut Labour funding
A proper workers party for starters not one overtaken by self obsessed graduate's who have never done a days work in their lives he want's workers to fund labour through their own pockets so be it!. I personally will stand against him and this political elite if needs be why pay for no results or being shot in the foot as NEW LABOUR did to us all when they opened the doors for competition in our workplace. Fine he wants it this way we should all UNITE and FOUND another party who will not cave in to big money and corporate lies about the working man. Labour is not what it was and never will be FOR THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF THIS COUNTRY!fishtank wrote:Fair enough it's a decent point but on a strictly political point in a country with a first past the post system who would you rather have in Government?Cut Off King wrote:Isn't it time that the CWU did the same and withdraw the ££££ it spends on Labour, instead spending that money on paying all members who strike a daily wage to help them out.

What's a "proper worker"?
How do you know "proper workers" all want the same thing?
What you want to do is start a new Labour Party again from scratch but with only a narrow band of support, what you consider to be "proper workers",that's fine and you're entitled to do that...if you don't mind playing minority politics while the main parties continue to make the decisions as if you don't exist and of course how do you know your proper workers party won't end up the same as the established parties?
The Labour Party is the party of the "proper worker" but not exclusively and you have to fight to make yourself heard within it and learn to share it with "non proper workers" whatever they might be.

Can you not see it has been taken over by the elite by that I mean the Eaton and Cambridge brigade and other top university's it is time we all use our eyes and look what has become of it for it serves only it's self not those who have contributed too it as we all have done so in the past. Time has come for more expectations from the representation of the masses rather than our ruling classes who earns the capital of our nation is it the rich or the poor.fishtank wrote:Where?k979aaa wrote:A proper workers party for starters!

Ooohhh you've opened up a can of worms....Does one stick to ones principles, even if it means being in the political wilderness....or swallow's ones pride and choose a party you don't agree with, but will be in power......fishtank wrote:Where?k979aaa wrote:A proper workers party for starters!

Eton. (small point)
The trouble is when the proper worker is confronted by the eloquent Old Etonian, he looks uncouth.
Billy is a proper worker yet everyone slags him off because he doesn't come across well in interviews. Everyone says we need someone who is more media savvy.
But media savvy people aren't proper workers.
Boris beat Ken.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: GMB cut Labour funding
Good point but we don't want Boris nor Ken times have changed so have political party's. We need representation for the many not the few or this place will look like Syria in a few years time to many disadvantaged people all going for the small piece of cake which Assad has. But Assad is not our enemy it is corporate greed assisted by our government passed and present which is our real enemy yet we look at blue yellow and red and cast our votes is this democracy? For the elite it is for the many it is not why cannot we open our eyes and see a better future for all we need more vision than those who are prepared to lead us all into darkness.clashcityrocker wrote:Eton. Principles are for hardcore revolutionaries with AK47s and big cigars.Cut Off King wrote:Does one stick to ones principles
Principles are for kids who live with their parents and have no-one else to worry about.
Principles are for the liberal grande bourgeoisie who can afford to purchase them.
My strategy is simple, look for the most dangerous bastard and take him out by any means necessary.
He or she is usually a Conservative.
If that means siding with a less than perfect Labour Party then so be it,I'll live with having slightly less principles.

I am none of the three examples you give above, yet I have my principles intact up to now... ( who knows what the future will bring )fishtank wrote:Principles are for hardcore revolutionaries with AK47s and big cigars.Cut Off King wrote:Does one stick to ones principles

I have tasted homeless-ness & poverty yet have kept my principles
If you worked for SOE in the war and were captured, would you blab all to save yourself, or stick to your principles and die with dignity
I couldn't side with whoever just to gain advantage for myself
Having principles that you live with is an individual choice, a line you wont cross, life rules you won't breach.....whatever the proacation.
I'm happy with where I stand.....are you ?
