re-vetting

Post by rooney »

i have worked no shifts for more than 28 days and for this reason need to be "re-vetted" .. this means that i have to go through the document checking thing again and if i get any work it'll be on the minimum wage rather than the high wage i qualified for in the past.

this re-vetting thing seems to be an abuse of the agency worker rights.

I am aware of a few instances this has happened.

Went away for a few weeks earlier in the year and were concerned about this 28 day rule and was informed it only happens if you/they fail to contact each other in the 28 days or they do not know you are going to be away. If you book a holiday that is contact and therefore the 28 day rule should not apply. Again with Angard everything is pretty vague and none committal so each person at Angard seems to have their own interpretation of the "rules".

See if you can back date the booking of a holiday to within the 28 day break.

problem is that they specifically asked me to not contact them. they said they will call/text me for shifts. after 2 months i thought i should give them a call and find out what's going on. apparently i'm longer employed with them. i must wait until they are recruiting again. its a total joke.

Presumably you found this out when you received your P45 following termination?

no, they haven't given me a p45 because they're saying that i'm technically still employed with Angard. strange that they can't give me shifts given that i'm on their system.

i found out by calling them. reason i did not contact them earlier is because they always send out these texts saying "don't call us, we will call you".

they've given me 2 options:

1. wait until next recruitment process, they will contact me when that is.

2. request p45 and never get work again

It is a CRAZY system, to be sure.

I worked as a Xmas casual last December, and got asked back. Worked a load of shifts - every time Angard texted me re a shift, I replied straight away and worked it if they gave it to me; every time the sorting office themselves rang me, I worked the shift. All this at minimum wage, natch.

Emailed Angard a couple of weeks ago, as I'd had no shifts since May, and they told me I couldn't work for them as I need to be vetted again! No P45 - I'm tied to them, yet can't work.

So they are advertising for casuals now...which means that they have me - a fully trained, vetted, trusted worker - unable to work, yet they are looking for casuals!

In the mean time I applied for a permanent position as a Postman. After the interview I was told that I had 'passed', but that they had offered the job to someone else. However, if there were any other jobs I wanted to apply for, instead of having to go through the whole process all over again, I could just mention the reference number they had given me as I had passed the interview, and this would be good for three months.

Three months and THREE DAYS later, the same position comes up again. I apply, quoting the reference number, but am told that it was only for three months, and this is three days past the expiry date. Yet again, they have all the information on me - my interview information, my details, etc, etc - yet, because it is THREE DAYS past their self-imposed time frame, I now have to go through the WHOLE process again...

Their whole system sucks big time...

i can work, they have all my details, they just don't want to give me work. they rather hire someone new, someone that is willing to work for 6£ an hour. what is happening is disgusting.

anyway i'm glad i dont work for angard/royal mail anymore. they are a nightmare.
