What about sub reps?dingo wrote:We are just about to enter a period where we will ballot the members. Why would we not accept an opportunity where We allow Royal Mail pay for the release of every rep in the uk to attend a meeting with their union ? In order to secure that having Moya Greene for a slot at that meeting is a small price to pay. The CWU will have the rest of the meeting to speak in private to every unit rep at the same meeting. This has never been done before. I can't believe Royal Mail have agreed this but it is ideal postion for the CWU to speak to every rep.

Your right, why wouldn't Moya want to pay for a reps meeting, It's not like she's a hard nosed business person looking for an angle, or seeking to influence anyone.dingo wrote:We are just about to enter a period where we will ballot the members. Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
Tosh! It isn't about money dingo, it's about the principle of the union conducting its business in private. What on earth has Moya got to say to the Reps that she hasn't said to every member via RM TV and dozens of flyers extolling the virtues of privatisation and the benefits of the 3 year deal...........you know what they say about the State of Denmark, well there's a definite odour. As for the cost................let the union spend some of the money the membership generously provide to run its business. Letting the wolf in amongst the flock is definitely NOT a small price to pay and shows how far removed the likes of you people are from the shop floor.dingo wrote:We are just about to enter a period where we will ballot the members. You obviously not seen her at a meeting of people. If any rep gets convinced by Moya at a national reps meeting then they should not be a rep. The fact is that the CWU for the first time ever before prior national ballot will have an opportunity to speak to every rep in the uk who can then have meetings with their members.

Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
Do people honestly believe that she is going to take away with her the (very likely) overwhelming disgust at the manner in which fellow members have been treated since agreement was reached on BT2010 and change her whole philosophy?
I would much rather see smaller, country-wide local Rep meetings taking place on a Sunday, headed by PEC members/Div Reps delivering the message. They can all read off the same hymn sheet and engage in Q/A sessions with Reps. The campaign to focus on, and fight for - improved pay, improved terms and conditions, job security, better pension etc, etc. This was the message members delivered in the Consultative Ballot. HQ will never have a better chance to galvanise support for direct action than it has now. Reps do not need the distraction of hearing Moya Greene preaching to the masses. We know Royal Mail's position and their intention has been clear since BT2010.
The intimidation of members continues apace and the blatant disregard for national agreements can be seen from recent strike action and upcoming ballots involving un-manageable workloads, bullying and harassment.
This is the time for CWU to 'man up' and take on management bullies, who are rife from top to bottom within Royal Mail, and be part of a business that respects, trusts and works with its employees to create a public service that we all deserve.

Even more NOT convinced by her if she isn't there - so give me a compelling reason why she SHOULD be there. They have had the opportunity to speak to every rep before dingo - remember the BT2010 roadshows? TBH if any rep needs to be convinced that a ballot is not the right way to go they shouldn't be a rep.dingo wrote:You obviously not seen her at a meeting of people. Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
Inviting all of the local reps to a national meeting is a wasted experience and cost. There are too many reps who provide minimal support and do not get themselves around to the units even to introduce themselves. That,s not to say that there aren't also a lot of dedicated reps, but to hope that this day is going to be cascaded down to the troops as a war cry to obtain a yes vote, is a forlorn wish.
The money would be far better spent on invitations to every member to mass rallys, even if they have to be held on a Sunday, with Mr Ward in attendance to explain in minute detail the importance of the national ballot. How the executive will deal with a Yes vote and the consequences and dealing with a No vote. What form of industrial action will the members be asked to take. I do not want to hear this second, third or fourth hand, and that,s if I get to hear it at all.
This is too important to be left hoping that local reps will cascade down, because we all know that it is only the large DOs that get that sort of service. There are hundreds of SPDOs that get no service at all.
As for inviting Moya Greene to this meeting beggars belief. Would Arthur Scargill have invited Maggie Thatcher to a coal miners meeting. I dont think so.

Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
It's a good job some of you are not in charge of getting a yes vote. Loads on here have criticised the fact that local reps do not get enough information. Well this is the chance. The announcement will have already be made on the 2nd September. I have to say lots of branch Committees get paid committee meetings on the basis that the DSM or Director addresses the first part of the meeting and then the second part is for the CWU only.
Now there are around 2000 local reps I suggest you reserve your judgement on this until after the event has taken place and then get the feed back.
The aim is to get a yes vote , speaking to every rep in the country at one meeting is priceless in getting the union message across.

Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
So why does Moya need to be there - is the union going cap in hand to RM to finance a strike ballot meeting? The sure fire way to get a NO vote is to have Moya at the meeting - it all smacks of staging to me. Just how many full time release officials are there and why could they not hold meetings in each area - particularly the weaker ones - of which I unhappily happen to be in one. The meeting could have been held on a Sunday, for those serious in their commitment to union affairs wouldn't have a problem with that and the monies recovered in the normal way. It seems you have a myriad of reasons to justify what is totally unjustified.dingo wrote:It's a good job some of you are not in charge of getting a yes vote. So how do you see this panning out in SPDOs when we have not seen a union rep in 2-3 years and the last two before that were made up to management. Dingo, you need to get out of London and see what life is like in the country.

But surely all reps should have already been given this information well we are called the communications workers union after all. so why the need for moya at said meeting.dingo wrote:It's a good job some of you are not in charge of getting a yes vote. Ah yes - well moya is going to say that all the bullying, terms and conditions, pay and pensions are going to be rectified and Billy and Dave have been doing a great job and that calling for a ballot is the right way to gosilly suffolk wrote:we recently had a rm director in town peddling propaganda, which I was told it was union policy not to go . so I never went. now im told to go to brum to see moya. bit confused.

Re: CWU Local Representatives National Forum – 12th Septembe
Down to money again Dingo. CWU should be able to stage meetings without the need for it to be financed by Royal Mail with the adage that they get to be represented. CWU meetings outside of Official Meetings with Royal Mail should be solely for the benefit of the members, and as such financed from our subs.
