If you do get shares it will be after privatisation has actually happened. You can't get shares in a publically owned RM. So I would accept them then, because you might as well get something, however little, in exchange for the jobs and t&cs that are going to be lost.
Even if it were against my principles.

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/nation ... ng-opt-out" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Government intends to give 10% of Royal Mail shares completely free to eligible employees at the time of flotation.

If eligible employees do not wish to accept these shares, they can opt out.

When further information on the flotation of Royal Mail is announced, eligible employees will be contacted with further details of the Free Shares Offer.

Included with this mailing will be a Free Shares opt out form.

Opting out

Eligible employees who do not wish to accept their Free Shares will need to complete and return this opt out form to decline their Free Shares.

They will need to ensure that the Royal Mail Share Scheme administrator, Equiniti, receives their opt out form by a specific time and date.

Full details about opting out, including the deadline for returning the opt out form, will be made available in due course.

Once an eligible employee completes and returns their opt out form, they will not be able to change their mind.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
