it is a sad fact that this new breed of management:- aggressive bullying couldnt care less attitude, is a contributary factor in peoples own downfalls in this company. where do they recruit them from? i know that many people now hate this job because of this new breed. this poor bloke was probably in too much of a hurry to pay too much heed to his own h&s and this is the end result. and i put this kind of incident purely at these managers doors. they probably will look to lay the blame on this unfortunate man. my heart bleeds for him. and they simply do NOT care. they briefed us this morning on the accident and said ''it is a conduct offence'' if they think you have disregarded h&s rules. glad to hear they are deeply concerned for this poor man. :evil/mad

But it is a dismissable offence to wilfully ignore H&S.
Hopefully that wasn't the case and while we all feel for the poor bloke, what would you all have been saying if his van had rolled down a hill and killed some kids?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

So glad you have some sympathy with him? So you are saying he is guilty by definition of being under pressure which all of us are at times even airlines have a duty of care to staff and passengers and those on the ground!. Even so the very state of the vans in some office may make you repent your conclusions MR POIROT.

I haven't said he is guilty of anything.
I don't know what happened.

You took snippets from the other contributor and painted it as a Health and Safety issue and painted a picture of a scenario. Don't take offence I can give an opinion which will not concur with yours. A man who has served his time has lost his leg in doing his job the least I could do is defend him and I am not sorry for that!.

If there is anyone who knows this poor man get him to complete an LS3, this will get his accident registered with the scheme, in the meantime he will also need to contact the DWP to register the accident at work so he may claim disablement benefit due to the accident at work, and maybe get a weekly pension.
