At a SW region briefing I attended in Exeter, Tony Fox mentioned that we were nearing the end of phase one of the Mail Centre Rationalisation, so I wonder what phase two is?
Now that is a worrying statement what is phase 2 Mr Fox? The Super Super MCs The question is can they find the land to build them?

I know a Postie that still pines for the old Harrow MC in College Road in Harrow and still drives past it as it is still there. As someone said before it's how RM manages these closures and moving the work over. The question is do they plan it properly which I think not. Also did they need to close PO yet? Because it does look like there will be a new Super MC built on the side of the coast in the near future to house BH/DT/PO/SO & SP mails (maybe even BN could be squeezed in if the rurmours about Croydon and Gatwick are true.)
These last nine months of consultation have just been a spreadsheet exercise rainbow warrior they're not interested if it's planned properly or not this is about figures on a piece of paper, everyone knows it won't work but they will spend hundreds of thousands on adapting SOMC to try and fit us in because it's about saying to government look how good we are we started with 55 mail centres now it's down to 30, tbh I think part of their reasoning for putting us together even though there isn't the space is so they can justify a new super mc when the budgets are allocated, either way it won't be the cake walk they think it will be, pompey isn't dead yet!
There's a an article in "The News" (Friday, August 16th) in the letters section from Scott Torrington, Programme Manager Royal Mail.
**Mail posted to PO area has fallen by more than 15% in 4 years
** Mail posted from Portsmouth to outside the area has fallen by 43% in same period.
Pretty dire numbers but does not account for rise in Parcel traffic I guess.
I have not heard a reply from the CWU regarding this point.? They seem to have turned it into a privatisation issue. This is happening REGARDLESS of a floatation....
