You're right it was worse - he sat like a naughty schoolboy in the headmasters office.
I don't want this man to be the figurehead of our union - how on earth did he get to this position? He is the head of a major union and gives the impression of being a scally bin man! He has had weeks to prepare for media confrontation and performs like a clown.

Sorry to say brothers and sisters but I got the impression of a bumbling baffoon and what's more may have sounded the death knell of a once great union. But I live in hope that better times for us all will ultimately materialise.
The burning question I would like to know is has the CWU agreed to paying the political levy early to the Labour Party?

I'm from those parts but as soon as people see & hear him , they'll stereotype him , people just want their prejudices confirmed ; let the cockney do the talking. He should have put a matching jacket on or worn a suit & tie to at least look the part , the next bit Billy, is feel & act the part , he doesn't exactly have to frequent Charity Shops on that salary ,and remember who pays it ! . Makes the union look like a bunch of amateurs coming up against a very slick PR machine . People are just going to think back to the days of Hatton and thugs in Leather jackets " Wot about de jobs mate!"
I wouldn't like to see Billy the bin man up against Paxman !

Hayes comes across as a genial old man! Ward is straight talking but I do think the media would portray him as being a union leader 'from the bad old days of the 70s' (as they would put it). Which one of these would you rather have an argument with!

the talk on our picket line today was about how poorly Billy Hayes came across,
why keep mentioning croziers wages? just makes us soud jealous
why not mention the rape pf our pension fund?
the flexible way of working meaning you dont know how many hours you work from day to day?
the executive action bt RM whilst the talks are goin on showing that RM cant be trusted?
If most of us can talk at length lucidly about the dispute why cant billy?
is he not briefed?
i hope he is a better negociater than public speaker!
