It's the third day of the van share calamity and we only went 1 hour over today both of us don't normally work past our time (i am on family friendly but did it today as a one off as i sorted childcare out for today only due to the DOM saying he'll sort it out but on return to office he'd fecked off home!)
Been over my time an hour in first few days with this new great idea of working ,,,then bang three and and a half over. Using a trolley all way around adds on so much time ,who made this crap up? Won't be going over again,,

Bloody hell. So, were you therfore out delivering for about 7+ hours? If so; then totally unacceptable

Apparently if you use a trolley it is far quicker as I was told by the management not that they would know anything in regards delivering the mail.
Using a lightweight trolley is quicker than delivering with a pouch and then going back over the same ground to deliver the packets that don't fit in the pouch.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The "theory" is also that you won't suffer from fatigue as severely as carrying weight on shoulder therefore your performance should be more constant throughout your delivery.
In theory that makes sense.

Not when you have to walk up a long drive, when before you could cycle up it.
How the hell do they think that will eleviate fatigue.
Frankly, they couldn't run a bath, none of em.

...but still slower and more tiring than using a bicycle

The main idea of the LWT was to stop carrying weight on the shoulder - Cycle deliveries whilst actually on the cycle shouldn't have any weight on the shoulder.

Exactly Teebs, so what is the point of P&L?
It's still more efficient, in most cases, to have 1 van covering say 10 duties large packets and dropping off bags to cycle deliveries rather than having 5 vans being used with all their inherent costs etc. isn't it?

It might well be but since previous to P&L only around 25% of deliveries were done by cycle what exactly were the other 75% of us to do?

When you say done by cycle, is that the official walk method or are you not including the people who should have been using bikes but were using their own cars?
I find it hard to believe that only 25% were down as cycle deliveries as, in my old office of around 60 duties, 95% were supposed to be cycle duties.
25% would be a national figure because I have the exact number of cycle deliveries here, and it hasn't changed for years.
None. Nada. Zero.
No cycle deliveries at all.
