Royal Mail has confirmed workers at Skegness delivery office took part in unballoted industrial action, today.

Postal deliveries to the PE24 and PE25 postcode have been affected.

Staff have now returned to work and Royal Mail is working to minimise disruption to services.

Royal Mail spokesperson Valerie Antoine said: “We apologise to customers in the Skegness area.

“Royal Mail is fully committed to working with the CWU to address the concerns raised by postal workers based in Skegness.”

Skegness postal workers strike over ‘staffing levels, bullying and harassment’

Postal workers in Skegness went on strike this morning over staffing levels and allegations of bullying and harassment.

A spokesperson for the Communication Workers Union confirmed that staff at the Royal Mail delivery office on Roman Bank had walked out in protest against working conditions.

“They must have felt pretty strongly about it,” they said.

Staff have since returned to work although there will be a meeting held next week between union reps and management to discuss concerns.

Royal Mail spokesperson Valerie Anotoine has apologised to customers whose mail was disrupted and expressed the service’s commitment to addressing the concerns raised.

“Royal Mail can confirm that some colleagues at Skegness delivery office, which covers deliveries to the PE24, and PE25 postcode areas took part in unballoted industrial action this morning,” she said

“The staff have now returned to work and we apologise to customers in the Skegness area for the disruption to their mail services and we are doing all we can to minimise this disruption.

“Royal Mail is fully committed to working with the CWU to address the concerns raised by postal workers based in Skegness.”
