Later Start Times

These are being introduced by executive action
These have been imposed in some units on Wednesday 10th October.
CWU members are advised to commence duty at the time intructed and on completion of your duty to submit a grievance stating that
You do not belive that you have been properly informed and consulted on the change and you should outline how this change affects you.
My advice is that you should mention - Childcare - if you have childcare issues especially for children under six, or other caring eg spouse or parents etc
Other employment
Loss of overtime opportunity eg Scheduled Attendance. These are only examples.
After the 28 day Grievance procedure the CWU will take Royal Mail to Industrial TRibunal.


In addition Glasgow and District Amal have advised The Outdoor Dept that in Delivery Units CWU members will be taking industrial action in response by cutting off their duty at the agreed finish time. Royal Mail will be given 7 days notice of this.
CWU members should attend at the times intructed by management.

DO the job properly
Dont start early - No cars on delivery, weigh all your bags, take your full meal relief before you leave the unit and abide by health and safety rules.

The Managers Union CMA/Amicus have come to an in principle agreement with Royal Mail.
The deal "recognises the positive role managers play in leading and acheiving our modernisation programme"
Final agreement will be reached next week.

Pay
2.5% on base pay from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008
2.0% available from 1st April 2008 and an increase of 2.8% available from 1st July 2008 if
1. Pension change agreed by 1st April 2008
2. Royal Mail Group and RM Letters central functions move to new pay and progression arrangement
3. RM Letters Operational Managers and support agree new pay and progression package.

Pay reviewed again 1st July 2009
Bonuses
on target bonus up to 10% - 2.5% stretch bonus
Asst Deliver managers have early shift allowance protected

IN RETURN CMA/UNITE will
support the pension reform
introduce new pay package

All Units in DG/KA were out
Some members and non members working - 15 in Saltcoats, 1 FT 2 PT in Kilmarnock, 1 in Ayr, 2 in Annan

Great majority at Saltcoats were out. Good Union people in there.

Ayrshire as a whole was solid today and will be tomorrow.

Kilmarnock have arranged a meeting in the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock Monday at 1pm all welcome.

Reps from the Glasgow and District Amal will be there.

To clarify a point Glasgow Units reps have asked for industrial action over later start times.
Othe Units reps from PA and DG/KA postcode have yet to discuss this.

the part time workforce has boosted attendance in some units. Saltcoats up to 20 and Kilmarnock up to five. Haven't heard from other units.

Units reps have been called together on Monday to meet Branch officials to discuss later start times.

Good strong public support from public on picket line this morning.
