I can't believe I'm reading this, surely this is a joke. Any manager that lets this go on should be sacked. It's effectively working cash in hand regardless if one employee has paid tax or not. HMRC will judge us as individuals not collectively.

It's exactly what they are concerned with, clearly it's more than a few quid if it is so widespread. What about the knock on effect to benefits entitlements, people with CCJs, second incomes, tax credits, CSA. Crazy stuff and RM would be seen to endorse it.

I'd be interested to know how you calculate how much to hand over to your colleague. Do you negotiate? Hand over a few crates of beer instead? Pay more for a Saturday?

In answer to your question it was normally a private agreement between two people but there seemed to be an average that people paid obviously a bit more for sunday

i used to pay £15 pund a bag, which took him bout 45 mins. or he would somethimes offer to do 2 bags for 25. which was handy if i was strite on the drink after work with a few mates and off work the next couple of days.!! you're not supposed to do it now. when the asm got wind of it he shook his head and said its a no no. you could be wideopen. if you had an accident, rm mail insure the duty holder or someone who is officially covering that round. if someone comes in from annual leave or a day off they are not given the protection afforded to the official duty man. if he had a crash, it will be scrutinised and if there was any serious injuries. well, the consequences would be dire.
