Thank you barrowc it was 2 years were above so not that many and that was in the good times of growth in the world. Moya in my book has done well to achieve those results

Just to put it into proper perspective the £136m we made in 1982 would be worth £408m in today's money, the £314m in 1994 would be worth £530m and the £496m in 1998 would be worth £740m.cloherty1976 wrote:Thank you barrowc it was 2 years were above so not that many and that was in the good times of growth in the world.
The large losses in 2002 mostly came from POL and even in 2009 when Royal Mail shows a net loss of £232m the company actually made an operating profit of £321m

For the last 10 years the pension deficit has been dragging net profits down by almost £250 million a year, that's gone now.
All Moya did was sell real estate, cut jobs and hike up the prices for both stamped and DSA mail.
Well done indeed.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Come on fish tank you could go on and on in terms of figures as you could say back in the 1940,s you could buy a penny worth of chips and all the fish you could eat on the pier my grandad would say

If you want to compare profits now with profits over the last 20 years you have to do it on a like for like basis.cloherty1976 wrote:Come on fish tank you could go on and on in terms of figures as you could say back in the 1940,s you could buy a penny worth of chips and all the fish you could eat on the pier my grandad would say
The same goes for wages.

Re: Royal Mail bonuses smack of private sector excess
The job cuts have been done before and the real estate opportunities she inherited with the mail centre rationalisation programme, the price rises had to be enabled by a change in regulatory framework which had to come at some point but were advanced by the governments wish to sell us off.Brain Fury wrote:Makes you wonder why nobody did it before if it was that easyfishtank wrote: All Moya did was sell real estate, cut jobs and hike up the prices for both stamped and DSA mail.
