Let me say this in all honesty never before in our time have we faced such hard times this is the big one the deal maker or breaker it is not for those with week stomachs it will be hard for all. But we must win for if we do not you would be better off working for your local supermarket or taxi firm everything fought for by previous generations would be lost forever. All these so called guarantees are smoke and mirrors an illusion no more than a delusion for feeble minds, Our time has come once again to stand our ground and take the fight to Royal Mail once more for nothing less than Victory will do.

It's not just about what we're fighting for either, though it is very important.
We also need to demonstrate to any potential new owner that we will not be walked over at will, and that we will fight to protect our jobs and pay etc.
If we give up without a fight, they'll just assume they can do what they want with out fear of reprisal from us, as they'll believe we'll accept what ever they want to do.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

The idea of industrial action is one of struggle not comfort. To bring employers to their senses then you may have to go forgo certain comforts or luxuries for a time if you really do want better long term conditions in your job. If you don't then you will cross a picket line with all the usual i can't afford it sob stories. Workers from previous generations would laugh at how weak we are in the face of struggle!
That's very esy to say but not easy to do

What about people where both parents work at Royal Mail ( and we have many) they face losing not one wage but both wages, while your sentiments are admirable the reality of life today is very far removed from the times of previous generations

Families like this may have to be put in the position where they want to support the strike but are totally unable to survive with no money coming in - what do they do? If they choose the option of one going in and one out - we all know what the one going in is called!

But how many on the gate would walk out if it meant the loss of not just their wage but their whole household income
Really? would that be the two posties who are getting say £300 a week each on full time therefore £600 a week total, compared to other posties who partners work else where and might say for instance be getting £500 a week in total?
If you can't save money on £600 a week between you then I'd lay off going on foreign holidays and pissing your money away on s**t that you probably don't need.
The f***ing strikes haven't even started yet and we are getting surrender monkeys bleating on about money and how hard it will be for them.f***s sake my dad was out in the 70's for seven weeks and he had 5 kids to support on his own.
much of these so called skint posties now would sell there mum for a few shares.f**k off.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

thanks for your well considered and rationale answer

the question was would you go without all your household wage not what your dad did ( and be in no doubt what he did was admirable and deserves respect) but it was a different world then

so would you go out no questions asked for as long as it takes for no wage to your family at all

When it gets privatized you will both be part time on minimum wage 3 weeks holidays zero sick pay and no full contract regardless how many years you have worked there do you all get it now is it worth fighting or will you be bought off for £1500 shares you may never see!.

you really don't get that I was offering an example do you??

What if they are already both part time? earning say £500 a week between them - do you really expect them to give up their whole household wage to a strike? For how long is acceptable to the people that say all out!!!

I do appreciate the seriousness of our situation but sometimes I think people don't think about the seriousness of other people's

while it would be an ideal world where we could all afford to go out until we got what we want - not everybody can or will

And there you have it - no ballot yet and already the bunker mentality is evident - not so on the consultative ballot of course there was no financial penalty to be paid then.

The fact is you would need to strike but if people would do the job properly you would not need to strike as much their in lies the problem and an overtime ban would be more effective!.

No surrender to the Royal Mail! I wonder if Moya might be able to lend me one hundred and twenty grand if things get really tough hahaha. Fancy trying to use public money to buy a house on the sly while through her network of managers she tries to make posties feel like criminals if they finish as much as twenty minutes early! What a first class hypocrite she is. I'd love to see the groveling apology she had to send to Vince Cable.

Nail right on the head

How many of the all out brigade come in early and run round making those of us who do the job properly look bad and subject to testing

It is these people that have created the problem yet they are the first ones on their high horse if people whose livelihoods depend on Royal Mail say they can't strike

Who among the strike brigade is honest enough to own up to coming in early for free and running round to make time??????????
