with the news of the heatwave set to stay for the next two weeks at least, will a DOM, stick his head above the parapet and tell his area manager, that he is not prepared to lapse, until the weather cools, because anyone with an ounce of common sense would, but i,m afraid richard hooper was right, when he said, "royal mail have''nt got the managers to bring about change", don't hold your breath!!!

I cannot understand all you do is either take your lapsed out and bring it back if you cannot do it or the end of you delivery comes back ,grow a pair the management have no superpower if you cannot do it for a good reason they cannot force you.either put grievance in even if it doesnt do anything and see union rep or higher up if no joy

Lapsing or not, it would be nice to start an hour earlier to avoid the worst of the heat.

Summer lapsing is needed by management.
I mean, how else could your DIM get a nice fat juicy bonus?
Even his underlings get about £2-3k each.
And what do the runners and riders get?
An extra hours worth of daytime tv.

Years ago we'd be out of the door delivering by 6.30am.We were happy.Public were happy.Caught most people in before they went to work.No problems with the callers office. Now we dont even start sorting till 6.30am. Lucky if we've even started delivering by 10am.Now we are walking around like f***ing mugs in the midday sun till mid afternoon..... Progress !

They're too scared of their own managers, they won't tell them no as they will then be in the bad books.
Plus they can't manage, they have no ability to do so.
And, as pointed out already, it would affect their bonuses, so....
