Hi guys, Start on thursday, got my contract through and sent it back,

I am on a 30hr contract, do you know if that is 30 paid hours or do you minus your breaks off that??

is overtime readily available??

will they sort me a uniform until mine arrives??

Do you think my walks will be ready to go when i get in or will i be doing that as well??

my start time is 6am so i take it its 6-12.30 5 days a week?

I guess its somewhat office dependant but Id say yes you should get at least 8 hours a week.

if youre starting at 6am and with the new start times RM want, then it sounds like youll be preparing your own walk for delivery

30hr contract = 30 paid hours including meal relief (break)

Overtime - usually available if you want it (initially you'll need it to complete your duty)

Duty prepared - highly unusual, you'll normally have to do most of the prep yourself.

Uniform - Until your uniform arrives you should be given a high-vis vest (uniform apparently now takes 1-2 weeks for new starters)

6am start time - as you will do 6 hours per day your finish time will be 12:00 (confirm your start time(s))

Additional Info

Do not come in before your official start time (unless agreed with management and you are being paid)
Do not use your own transport to complete your delivery.
Take your full meal relief before starting your delivery.

Never take any mail home - no matter what anyone says

Don't be. All those old hands you see around you felt exactly the same as you do now when they first started. You'll be alright mate.

hi patsy , from my knowledge when i started 4 yrs ago there will be no uniform bar a high vis jacket and/ or a coat someone might lend you!!
30 hrs is paid as 30 hrs
as for your walk i would say 95% certain that you will be teamed up with a regular postie , so hopefully most of the round will be in . dont panic cos if its not then the regular will prep it , you will just be his bitch for the day
as for overtime i really cant answer for your office but there is always the chance to work your day off .

you should get paid for the 30 hrs including a brake but if your a 6am start you`ll be a 11am finish not 12.30pm.. i doubt your walk will be preped for you not if your in at that time of the morning..

(1) If you posted your contract back today,it won,t arrive at HQ until next Thursday? (2) Meal break 40 mins included in 30 hours. (3) As a trainee you will probably be working 8 hours anyway. (4) Uniform, don't know. (5) You should be out with a regular postie for a week to learn the ropes. Then maybe sent out alone to do that duty.To see how you get on.Then moved onto another duty and learn that,then another, till you feel like a pinball. Sorry to disallusion you but we have had three new starters in our office and they all left within 2 weeks.Thought it was a cushy little job. All depends really on how good a manager you have? And they are few and far between. Best of luck mate.

NO - do not do this unless you have agreed getting paid for the overtime.

Didn't anyone tell you it is job and finish? If you finish before 6 hours you can go home. Sadly it is now a job to finish.

you have MUCH more info than I did when I started about 10 years ago. I applied to the RM went to an interview about a week later, heard nothing from them, I had started work somewhere else. Then about 3 months later I get a letter saying I start my training Monday lol

How do you know that 6 hours isn't enough to finish? You havn't even started yet?

yea! had 2 interviews, waited 2 weeks, then got phone call, i did ask him loads of questions at interview, just hope its worth it as i have just turned down another good job,

the reason i thought 6 hours were not enough was because 30 hours is classed as part time so wasnt sure
