Sounds like you have made quite a start in your office

I can see where your coming from but you simply do not have the experience (in years, not weeks) to fully appreciate the exact effect that delivery work has on the body over a long period of time.

This is not your fault and if you don’t get punched out by your colleges it’s something that you will learn in time.

I may have only been doing the job for 2 months but i have done many different walks in that time and can see it is certainly not hard labour,not compared to my previous building jobs or many other physical jobs out there.

Assume you packed in working on building sites (earning a large wedge no doubt) because you didn't want to be crippled before your 40th birthday ...

Not because the job is hard or that I hate it but because we get little to no appreciation for what we do....any "going the extra mile" or "doing a bit extra" is not rewarded with a thank you it's rewarded with more work. While the managers giving you the extra work pat each other on the back.

Your right it does not help at all.

Trouble is I get it drilled into me week after week through poxy WTL what will happen to me if I fook up, but what about reward ?

As mentioned Manager have just got a 2k-3k bonus. We cant even get a basic pay rise without loads of money saving strings.

I get that for the guys and girls that have been here for many years and have seen it change from the 'good old days' to the 'modernisation', the job isn't as good as it used to be, but is it really that bad?

This is my 4th job on my cv to date and its by far the best, Its very stress free and pays better then any of the others I've had, the hours are great, we get evenings and at least one weekend day free.


I've had jobs where I'm working 4 weekdays to 10 pm and the same on both Saturday and Sunday for minimum wage.

Yes it's not perfect and the majority of management are ####s, yes it's changing but as are more jobs these days.

Take a can of man up and lighten up, you don't realize how good you have it compared to some people.

I think you are right but thats the nature of an online community. I bet if the top table of RM had a forum like this, their complaints would be EXACTLY the same.

No it isn't but if you are basing what people really feel about the job by what they post here then you are reading too much into it. Its a sad fact that people are more likely to complain than praise on-line and in the pub.

its about my 20th or 21st can't keep track, you right about the hours.

16 years in the forces including 3 deployments to "war zones" - I've done me "man up" thanks.

Mind you I do like these posts that complain about complaining, its a self defeating argument and supremly ironic.

The logic used in that particular position is short sighted and is the one Managers and Business owners use to get rid of people, why help them.
