Why does everyone moan?

Everyone moans because they're given a reason to, by some arsehole or another.
It is also their right to let off steam, and better to do it on here, with no fear of reprisal (save maybe a telling off from a forum administrator when you step out of line), as doing it at work may land us in trouble.
It also allows us the chance to compare what is happening to us all, up and down the country.

I like my job, we are well paid, and we have better T&C's, especially in comparison to other companies. But that's because these things have been fought for, by the people you are calling moaning twats. Another big reason for what I see as a rise in moaning and general unhappiness in staff, is the inevitable obliteration of that pay and T&C's should privatisation happen. Tell any group of people that they are about to be royally shafted, whilst those at the top will benefit from that, and they will moan about it. They wouldn't be human if they didn't.

I like (most) of the people I work with, we have a laugh, sometimes a moan, and the days go quicker.

My own reasons for moaning, and I suspect the majority of other posties will be in the same boat, is managers, and the RM board. The way they treat us, how we are spoken to, how we are continually being put on, again and again, and that will only worsen with time.

I do not understand how people say they get home with no energy to play with the kids etc etc....If that is the case you are simply in poor shape/unfit.I have plenty of energy left to play with my kids,do a bit of housework,sometimes i cook sometimes the wife(tries) cooks

I've been in the job 16 years and have the same opinion as 2pints. It isn't hard labour in the slightest, yes it's unpleasant and uncomfortable sometimes with the crap weather but it isn't massively tiring.

I doubt the guy I worked with a few weeks ago would agree though, he was overweight and sweated buckets despite none of the bags having more than 2 bundles in.

So I guess one persons idea of hard work can be far removed from another.

Yes that's a good point as there are a couple of drivers in our office who have piled on the pounds and will struggle like hell if they have to do a walk.

Another thing that I have thought of is starting times. Being full time I start at 6am which means that i am up at 4.20am 5 days. I think that has an effect to how you feel at the end of the week.

I may have only been doing the job for 2 months but i have done many different walks in that time and can see it is certainly not hard labour,not compared to my previous building jobs or many other physical jobs out there.There is an attitude of if your new then you know nothing/cannot have an opinion,well i say kiss my lean white ass and stop being so elitist. Some people like that at our office and i tell them the same,one guy asked me why i walk so fast and he stated that i am ruining the job for the rest of us,i simply said that is the speed i walk at i am not rushing at all and he just smirked and said "whatever".I told him maybe if he lost a few pounds he might be able to walk faster than a snails pace.. he looked like he was considering punching me tbh but decided against it.

I am not being an elitist simply making a comparison.I cant stand moaners who moan for the sake of it,there are people out there with seriously difficult lives who do not piss and moan about it all day long like some of the posties do.I never claimed to be "rock ard" either,i just do 4 days a week strength training,and to the person who said training will just lead to injury..bull sh*t.Training and strengthening your muscles and ligaments actually helps prevent injury but obviously you did not know that.

Moan away if you like and carry on being ultra negative about everything and see were it gets you...

I think you have given everyone your number in this post, but seriously mate stay off the steroids its making you come across as arrogant. You may be the best postie out there but if you really have been a postie for only 2 months, then you have been a postie in the quietest time of the year, and you may be in a good office. Others may be in a really bad office and have every reason to moan.

It you don't like people moaning then please resurrect Postmanchat or start an forum based on the courier.

People are allowed opinions however long they been working for Royal Mail, but right or wrong it isn't elitist to form an opinion on that poster based on experience. After all I wouldn't trust an EOD officer with a pair or pliers if he had only been in the job 3 months.

Training and strengthening your muscles and ligaments actually helps prevent injury .

It may help but it isn't 100%. We are all human after all.
There is a drip drip drip effect to a lot of the ailments posties suffer and while you are able to do your stamina training now, other events in your life may prevent you continuing at the same level, and then you will become vulnerable.
A lot of the injuries I have seen are chronic -and age is no friend to a chronic injury.
