The cost of a UK first-class stamp has risen by two pence to 32p, the second price rise by Royal Mail in three years. Second class stamps rise to 23p.
Postcomm said it has agreed in part to the increase because of the problems Royal Mail was having with its "enormous" pensions deficit.
"We believe this framework will enable Royal Mail to invest in the business, meet its obligations to the pension fund and build on these achievements going forwards," Postcomm chairman Nigel Stapleton said in March.
So Postcomm effectively let Royal Mail increase prices so that the pension deficit could be resolved. So where is that money ?!?!

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No £1.B was put in an 'ecru' account (not 100% with the name) the deal is if the company folded(Aint gonna happen) the money would be used to prop up the pension fund.ROCKY wrote:nowt to do with pensions the money is for new machines and kit to replace staff to save money to make proffit so rm can pay part of their debt to anyone who is left
CWU wanted the money put straight in the pension fund as there is no way the company could go bust as it's government owned.
So there is £1B floating around some where.
