Post in PE6 area to return to normal as sorting office staff go back to work

Monday 9.30am: Postal deliveries should return to normal after striking sorting office employees went back to work.

People living in the PE6 postal area had their normal deliveries disrupted after about 200 staff at the Werrington sorting office in Peterborough walked out on Friday.

This included the Deepings, Helpston, Baston, West Deeping and the towns and villages in between.

The PE1, PE2, PE3, PE4 and PE5 postcodes were also affected.

But staff have today (Monday) returned to work.

A Royal Mail spokesman apologised to customers for any delays to deliveries.

All staff have returned to work at the Peterborough Mail Centre and Delivery Office. Deliveries will be made in all parts of the PE1 and PE3-6 postcode areas today, although these may be made at different times from normal.

Collections should be made today from all posting boxes, Post Offices® and business customers at normal times.

The Enquiry Office at Peterborough Delivery Office remains open as usual for customers to collect items for which we have left a ‘Something for you’ card.

We’d like to apologise to customers for the recent disruption to service as a result of this action by the Communication Workers Union. We’re doing all we can to return all services to normal as quickly as possible.
