THE first in a series of strikes by postal workers at the Bridgwater Royal Mail delivery office takes place today.

Working conditions and pay are among the reasons members of the Communication Workers Union are taking action.

The strikes, which will also take place on July 6 and 13, affect the TA5, TA6 and TA7 postcodes.

Well done to them all.
Standing up for themselves and their colleagues.
Think this will run for a while, as RM are loathe to admit to being in the wrong, or to recognise the reality of problems, or be willing to resolve them sensibly.
Shouldn't have to come to this, but RM leave little choice for staff.

If these kinds of actions were more prevalent across the country, the union may be in a stronger position overall.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Planned industrial action at Bridgwater Delivery Office (TA5 - TA7) - Saturday 6 July

Royal Mail is disappointed that members of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) have voted in favour of industrial action at Bridgwater Delivery Office tomorrow, Saturday 6 July.

In the event that this local strike goes ahead, we have strong contingency plans in place to help minimise any disruption to mail services in Bridgwater.

Managers and other volunteers will be delivering to as many business and residential addresses as possible on Saturday. We will ensure all priority mail, including Special Delivery and Tracked items, and as many parcels as possible are delivered to customers.

The Enquiry Office at Bridgwater will remain open as normal on Saturday, for customers to collect items we’ve left a ‘Something for you card’ for.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers as a result of the CWU’s action.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
