Re: Rejected pay offer
If we go out on strike the fact is nobody can afford to , and if you don't go out ,will you happily accept anything regarding better terms and conditions that come you're way , because of colleagues having the b alls to stand up for themselves and each other?

Re: Rejected pay offer
But it's not like we are asked to go out on an all out strike for weeks on end, it's normaly one day a week, now i know times are hard but the gloves are off and now more than ever within Royal mails history is a time to make a stand, if we don't to quote that guy in Aliens 'It's game over man'spoodoo wrote:If we go out on strike the fact is nobody can afford to , and if you don't go out ,will you happily accept anything regarding better terms and conditions that come you're way , because of colleagues having the b alls to stand up for themselves and each other?
I'm struggling and was stupid in the past over spending and getting myself into debt, but i spend about £100 a week on the food shop, i'm more than happy to drop that to £50 a week for a month or so while we strike, beans on toast anyone?
Anyone that says they can't afford to strike one day a week for a month or so is selfish IMO.

If we go out on a 24hr strike all that will happen is the mail will sit in your frame and you will have a double load next day, RM aren't worried about quality of service anymore, you will lose a days pay, RM save a days wages so i see that as a win win for RMAnotherLimey wrote:But it's not like we are asked to go out on an all out strike for weeks on end, it's normaly one day a week, now i know times are hard but the gloves are off and now more than ever within Royal mails history is a time to make a stand, if we don't to quote that guy in Aliens 'It's game over man'spoodoo wrote:If we go out on strike the fact is nobody can afford to , and if you don't go out ,will you happily accept anything regarding better terms and conditions that come you're way , because of colleagues having the b alls to stand up for themselves and each other?

So we wont be seen on the picket line. It wont be reported in the press and TV. We won't be condemned in Parliament. ??
Bad press for Royal Mail that draws attention to our dispute is good for us and certainly isn't a win win for them.

Yeah, don't worry, we won't be out for more than a couple of days before we have a joint statement about an interim agreement, leading to The "Deal of the decade".

Yes but RM get raped and fined by Ofcom for not providing a Uni service. Re: Rejected pay offer
It would be interesting to see what do CWU want Royal Mail to give us in pay talk. What sort of pay offer should we be looking for.

Re: Rejected pay offer
The basic pay offer isn't too bad in the current climate, all its needs is a bit more clarity on the bonuses, remove the 3 year clause and return to yearly pay rounds, and all the chains dropped. That's the acceptance of future plans without knowing what they are, the no strike or no bonus, the acceptance of the Pension changes and acceptance of Privatisation.Darren Bent wrote:It would be interesting to see what do CWU want Royal Mail to give us in pay talk. That's a minimum position for me.
The current offer is a Faustian one, get a pay rise but give up your democratic rights to remove labour and to protest pension changes and fight privatisation.
Royal Mail Press Release wrote:This payment will be forfeited in offices where industrial action takes place between now and the date of payment.
CWU LTB wrote:Acceptance of the previously rejected pension proposals currently out to consultation.
CWU LTB wrote:However, this offer lacks clarity over the future and is not a substitute for a proper agreement over the company’s future parcels strategy.

I am not sure I entirely agree TBT, although the adverse publicity for Royal Mail may benefit our fight against privatisation I think we need to be careful that the dispute does not get manipulated into being shown as just a dispute regarding pay. As the public in large will not sympathise with us if that is the way it is portrayed.
The Union leadership need to get the point across in a concise manner which does not disengage the public, who will not take on board the central argument if they waffle on and try and make it personal against this government. If that transpires then the cause will be just reduced to a pay dispute in the minds of the public, and I am pretty sure much of the popular press will cover it in that manner, along with the need for privatisation to control a Postal Service that is being held to ransom by unions and cannot function effectively in the public domain and all the usual old claptrap that they spout when it serves their agenda.....
