In simple terms a 2.6% pay rise backdated to April 2013. Bonus of £300 around xmas
But here is the kickers if we accept
Is the Bonus inclusive of the £200 we are already promised, or is it extra.
If its extra and we strike do we forfeit all the bonuses or just this new addition £300 or £100 whichever it is)
Acceptance of RMs unexplained strategy going forward.
The future pay rises are not guaranteed despite what they say as they can be changed and even if not they are not above projected inflation pay rise so we could be worse off in % terms.
To accept the pay rise we have to accept the Pension changes they are consulting on. So even with is years pay rise, "going forward" the promised pay rise won't cover the losses from our deferred wages (pension).
You seem to know your onions. So you personally would tell them to F*** Off?
They post 400 million profits, and still act like the company is in s**t. That can't be right, or am I just stupid?
It looks a good deal, and that's how they sell it to the press but if there was ever a Faustian Deal - this is it. Accept the pay rise - accept Privatisation.
I think if you read the Royal Mail transcript it is a lot better worded and am sure you will get £100 Xmas bonus and £100 promised last year plus this new £300 if no industrial action is taken. Total £500 at Xmas time to delivery and mail centre staff.. If there is a conspiracy theory why does the union or legal just ask for clarity and if Royal Mail don't reply to a simple request then you would have to assume it will be £300

I think both parties pretty much released the info simultaneously but I think the union got there version out first by a few minutes.
This one,the Royal Mail version was full of typos which me being a bit sad and obsessive felt the need to correct.
I got the feeling the whole thing was a bit rushed.
"a bit rushed" - exactly three months after the pay rise should have come into effect.

So are saying you would accept a no strike deal, privatisation and pension changes on the basis of this £400 and 2.6% pay rise.
The bonus means nothing to me, its a minor point, its using the pay rise to stop me exercising my democratic rights that I am rejecting. Get rid of them and we might be close to a deal, although I would prefer a higher weekly wage rise rather than any bonuses.

We will confirm that contracts of employment and terms and conditions for existing employees and employees hired into the core network remain on the same basis at least for the three-year period of this settlement unless varied by mutual consent.
I don't believe that would be legally enforceable after the sale of the company unless it was written into the conditions of the sale and that would put off potential buyers or at least adversely affect the sale price so....I'm not buying it for a second.
I think I would as to me the deal will give me a pay rise of rise of nearly £3500 by April 2015. The pension and privatisation to me what is said may or may not happen and as so many things have changed in the past to what the management and union have said and with another 20 years to go I do not really worry to much as I live for today and worry about the future when it happens. This is not to say I am not thinking of the future for my wife and kids and have made other investments to provide for the day i retire if I make it which I might add could all go wrong but these are my choices of investment so I only have myself to blame. I do respect your views and think you have to do what is right for yourself and family
Pensions are now biting the union on the arse as i knew it would do when they split it from the last industrial action we took, like f***ing idiots. I have zero confidence in this crap union.
Dsa could have been sorted 10 years ago but it wasn't - cwu = a shower of s**t!

So what's your solution then?
They may not be perfect, but without them who would negotiate your pay rises etc....

I understand your views on providing for yourself and your family, but this every man for himself stuff is what's causing friction and problems at ground level. A better way of working would come if everyone just tried working together.

What like doing the job correctly , not coming in early ,not speeding in van , going home on time and so on. Never happen

I dig what you're saying, mate. Feel that way myself more times than I should, esp. the head banging.
It couldn't have been accepted because it did not meet the aspirations of the membership, included an acceptance of the pension changes which the union would have been crucified on these boards for and a "no strike bribe" which would have made any potential fight against privatisation impossible.
It also failed to spell out what the strategy for growth might be and any potential protection on terms and conditions were limited and not legally binding.
Now we know where we are and we move on.
The union and Royal Mail are still in talks so we should know pretty soon whether RM consider this their line in the sand and whether we will have to drag them screaming and kicking over to where our line is.
