You do not agree to phone them. You have informed them that there may be a problem and they have told you to take all the mail out because they think you CAN finish. You therefore agree for them to phone you on your mobile (if you have one) at an agreed time, to see how things are progressing. If you then inform them again that you will not be able to complete, they must instruct you what to do with the excess, whether it is to bring it back to the DO or whether someone is coming out to complete. If they have failed to call you, then bring it back to the DO and leave it with a manager (if you can find one) stating that management have failed to abide by the Overrunning Deliveries Procedures. If no manager, leave it in your managers office with a note to the same effect on it, and notify the DSM of the failure and the reasons for the failure.

mattymann wrote: our rep is useless to be honest, the only thing he's ever done is get his own walk timed and got his merge taken off his walk and he doesn't have
to go on the sorting and because he doesnt drive someone has to do his oversize pkts too! Everyone in the office can do his walk in 2:30hrs no problem!
even with oversize, he's never done anything for anyone else in the office, I overheard him laughing that part time staff won't be coming back early anymore, even though we do infinately more than he does! It's affecting moral, especially with no one on our side
from a union point of view the rep has proved to the business that he does not have enough time to do what was there and has had his duty altered, no mention is made of others who struggle to complete although i'm sure they do. From your post it doesn't seem as though your rep returns back to the office early. It is possible to conclude that your rep has done and is now showing you all what can be achieved by doing the job properly. Your rep may feel that those who CAN do it in 2:30 are ripping the piss out of it.
The business cares not a jot for those who come in early, only those who come back early. What you have shown is that the body of work put in front of you each day is MORE than you can achieve in your contracted hours.
We are our own worst enemies in not supporting our union.

getting back to the thread, the abridged version of business policy is, "as soon as you become aware of a problem in completing your delivery you make them aware"
as i have said before, at all times, i prefer to do this in person.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP
