CONCERNS over daily post in a Somerset village have been quashed after Royal Mail confirmed it will continue to deliver every day.
East Huntspill Parish councillor Valerie Shellard told members at a meeting held on Monday that the village will need to brace itself for changes after she received a letter from the firm.
She said: “Are people aware that our postal services are being changed in the village?
“There is no set time that they are going to deliver. When they have a full van they will deliver. Whether it is 7am or 7pm.
“It is supposed to be making Royal Mail more efficient.
“I do wonder whether we will even get a daily post.”
A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “We apologise to any residents in the East Huntspill area who have experienced a change to their normal service.
“Every letter is important to us and we value the quality of service to our customers.
“We have recently introduced revisions to our delivery service to reflect the changing nature of the daily postbag – fewer letters and more parcels.
“This means that some customers will experience deliveries earlier in the day and some later.
“However, a six day a week delivery and collection service is central to the ‘universal service’ the Royal Mail is required to provide – and this service will continue.”
He urged anyone with concerns to go to royalmail.com or call 08457 740740.

This spokesman should inform our DO managers about this. When they cover a cut-off (which occurs because they don't employ enough staff to do the work) they leave the packets they leave any non-essential looking letters and even leave the odd 'signed-for item' so that they can run round in the minimum of time and get back to the office for a biscuit and a cup of tea. Every letter is not important to our managers - if we did the same we would be sacked no question.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:

Until they realise they can't cover the work or fancy saving a few quid to boost their own bonus.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

why change failing revisions when managers are getting unlimited overtime. breaking the rules by not wearing hi viz jackets, trolleys and private cars.
what ever happened to the eu directive on hours worked in a week, or is that just another figure being fiddled on the paperwork.
