We should get another job or be sacked. Most will use other companies for their mail services, forgetting that we will be delivering it anyway and which seems to be late all the time. Some people really are pathetic. THEY DESERVE THE SERVICE OUR MANAGERS WANT THEM TO GET!
Who gives a feck what the public thinks?............... I don't. :Very Happy
Better to have them on our side, eh? Everyone I talk to on my round (all of whom don't know the ins and outs of it all...I filled in a few blanks for them!!) are very supportive but this is an ex-mining community. That's another thing that got to me when reading the BBC stuff. So many saying that we should learn from what happened to the miners, shipworkers, etc. A glance at where they live, you'll notice that none of them are from the communities that were devastated by those disputes.

We must move away from an over-reliance on public support. One group of people , and one group alone, will win this struggle, Pokemon mate,
and that's us, postal workers. Great if members of the public give us a cheer, toot their car horns, but it's not essential. I've seen it here in London,
our brothers and sisters on the tubes don't get any public support apart from other trade unionists. Do they give a feck, not at all. :Very Happy

This one is a cracker!

We have possibly the worst postal "service" in the world and are forced to try and use it. Modern businesses work SEVEN FULL days a week and yet Royal Mail now only collect mail five days and deliver six days a week - when they're not on strike. What a joke. Phil, Witham

I think Phil is behind moves to bring back kids up chimneys and slavery.

Understandable, I don't see the city side of things here in hick-country!
It will do us no harm in letting folk know what the real crack is rather than relying on the piss-poor media in general.
Although it failed in the long run, don't forget the miners and the public sympathy they generated and relied upon during the prolonged dispute. Okay, so it's a terrible comparison as they are very different examples but I'm just saying that we need to get the point across in as many ways as possible. More public support will lead to more angry letters, press, etc....or, at least, it should?!
Conspiracies aside, I see your point but this is more national than the London tubes so it'll be a little different. The vast majority of us cannot speak for the tube service as we never/rarely use it whereas our dispute will effect everyone in the country.
A dispute this wide-ranging needs all the support it can get, especially since the majority of the media seems to be hellbent against us.

Either my comps stuffed up or BBC HYS is'nt working, its showing last posting 4pm yesterday - we don't deliver to their message board do we??

Declan(business bloke) on BBC Breakfast is this morning trying to explain to the public about the competition and how we deliver their stuff at reduced cost and cherry picking, probably won't sink in with the public tho

It's interesting that they have only started to mention this, now that we are out for 2, 48 hour strikes. :hmmmm It will have much more of an effect on the competition than the earlier ones. :Very Happy :Applause :nana Don't let the BBC delude you into thinking that they have switched sides.

Just wanted to apologise to anyone from liverpool for this post........
If you think sorting and delivering mail is so easy why don't you come and give it a try, but I guess most of you would'nt be able to get a job at RM because of your criminal records.

Frankly, I'm not sure I want someone of your limited education sorting my mail.

I just use irony & sarcasm with Tories . The Thatcher's children that should have been the subject of two consenting Doctor's signatures is one of my favourite little put downs.Target Practice in South Africa was one Joe Strummer used .Basically HYS attract extreme views , in pre -internet days it'd have been green ink letters to the Daily Flail or Torygraph. The middle class f***wit who "pays your wages ", the 80hr Self Employed one , then there's all these bosses who can't take the slightest bit of criticisim and has a god given right to be in charge all frequent these wonderful forums .

This is'nt our Baldrick is it
They should all be fired and the military should take over mail delivery until competent replacements can be trained! I'm amazed that this country has no provision preventing postal workers from carrying out a prolonged strike. Some people in Westminster better get their heads out of Asian affairs and start paying attention to their own country!.

Most of the public dont understand, what we do or what we have to put up with from crap managers, and i dont think they ever will, i havnt spoken to anybody on my delivery that isnt behind us, :cfo and :lfo are media savy and know from their time in other busineses how to manipulate news coverage, its about time the CWU got someone whos as clever at using the press and putting our side of things, i try not to listen to people being interviewed as it winds me up, this modernisation keeps coming up, if the general public realised that modernisation is another word for crap service they wouldnt want it, but it sounds good, doesnt it...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Not a Telegraph Reader is it ? Sir Herbert Gussett , is this 2007 or is it the 1924 General Strike . Mind you Leighton certainly wants to turn the clock back to those days like that Boogie 40 off Hellfail was suggesting. The w*** start at Paris with that one .

I'd like to see the army delivering the post (seeing as they are all deployed in some war zone or other).
